ESTABLISHED 1881.
GR EETING.
A Merry Christmas To All!
It is a wholesome and a hearty
greeting, and though it has been
repeated for hundreds of years,
and in all manner of tongues, it
still finds a response in every hu
man heart that has felt the in
fluence of Christianity. It is a
greeting that is in some sort a
blessing and a benediction. A
round it clusters a thousand asso
ciations and memories, some of l
them happy and some of them sad,
but all of them precious. It re
calls familiar faces, the beaming of
bright eyes, the laughing of red
lips, the shimmer of golden hair,
and waving of white hands. Some
of these we shall see no more, but
the memories of them are-to be
cherished.”
A merry Christmas to all!
Itis a greeting that belongs to
all Christian climes, but it is no
where more appropriate than now
and here, for this Christmas of
1904 finds Georgia and the South
entering upon a career of practical
prosperity to which no man can
fix a limit. However precious
the memory of the past may be,
the heart cries ‘‘Onward,” and
Hope hasits eye on the future.
It is peculiarly fitting therefore
that The News should say to its
readers
A merry Christmas to you all!
