Hospitality. ‘
Hospitality is the reception and
entertainment of strancers or zuests ‘
without reward and, at one time, |
was as universal as the face of man.
Christ, the Master taught it and
therefora it isa Christian duty and
should be practiced and fauzht in l
this day and generationg If it is l
the duty of ali Christiars to be hos
pitable they shculd extend the hos- ‘
pitality accerding to their ability. |
Every one can do something for |
the cause but of course the poor are 1
not expceted to be as liberal in en<
tertaining as these who have ample i‘
means. The poor however often set |
us an example of true hospitality— |
how they divide thoir narrow meal
with a hungry neighbor; how they
share their fire and shelte: with
those who ara destitute. one of the
most hospitable women in our
town, says a writer, is a poor wash
woman. I think she always has
warming at her fire some cold little
body whose mother s off for a days
work, or some little chap who has
no where to o after school, or
some li'tle working boy who dee:
T 18, cuts wood or cle ns side
walks Indeed, she is a publie
benefactor, and with no means of
exercising hospitality Lut a snfall,
bare room and fire, she yet sets us
an example ofa hearty, thouzhtful
sharing of that little with those
who need.”
The relation hetween guest and
host has always been very sacred.
The wildest Arab protects him
who has eaten of his salt, Ifone
of our Indians offered the calumet
of peaee to a stranger and led hin:
into his wigwam, then he was that
strangers defender until he went
forth in peace. We have never
read of any land or {ribe where
hospitality was unknown and truly
tkis grace of the barbarians should
shine better and brighter
in the civilized man and
the Christain, Let us make a
point to cultivate it especially in
our @amilies so that this virtne may
descend to aur children and that
hospitality may revive and vot die
out in the nineteenth century.

there are a scora of symptoms ary
one of which shiows the existence
of eatarrh. Neglected, it will rub

Why th y Want to Adjourn.
Now that the grasshopper has
left the vine whereon he erstwbile
sang, and the gebbler struts with a
lordlier mien, while the sweet po
tato cracks the earth and the per
simmon exchanges its blushes for
wrinkleg; while the opessum goes
out in his groves to pray and
oflers a sacrafice to the midnight
moon, the Georgia legislator yearns
for his happy hunting grounds and
his persimmon beer, He dreams
of fogs and hominy. and visions of
thanksgiviny turkey haunt his
glumbers. He turns from killing
bills to the delights of the hoe
killing seacon. From the commit
tee room he avould go to his board
fields; {rom the Kimball House
lobby to his own fireside, and the
legislative joke would exchange for
a winter’s tale.—Atlanta Journal.

. Raise Yeur Owa St:ck,
There are several head of fine
horses now on the market in Daw
gon. Our town hasa reputation of
heing a splendid market for mules
and horses, and during nearly eve
ry month in the year drovers can
be found here with stock. Enjoy~
ing this reputation, as we do, men
from ail the adjoining counties
come here to get their mules and
horses. Our people are noticing
the Jarge amount of money that is
annually sent away from Terrell
for stock, and are gradually turn.
ing their attention to raising mules
aud horses. It is true that we have
not -the advantages of the blue
grass rvegions, but there are mules
and horses that were raised right
here in Terrell, that are as good
aud endurable as any that are
shipped from Kentucky and Ten
nessee. and they do not cost exs
ceeding fifty dollars. \When our
farmers know this to be true, it
seems natural to suppose that there
would be more men engaged in
raising stock. It {ooks like a slow
busimess to one and two horse far
mers but it is not. If a man can
keep up the eotton mania and sell
a $lOO colt every two years, why
not raise the colt.
