and is selling them without any

one day last week, a foot of a wild
cat caught in his plantation four
miles east of Dawson. The cat
was a very large one There are
hundreds of them in the country,
and in some localities they arve
playing havoc among the poultry

cently passed by the city couneil,
closinz the barber shops on Sun
day, iz not giving satisfaction and
that anether petition will be gotten
un bexiing the council to repeal
the law It is claimed that the
other petition was signed by about
one fifth of tha voters of the city
and soveral of ‘them are men who
do not even enter a b®bershop
and have no sympathy for stran
gers who may ride all Saturday
and Saturday night, and are una=
ble to attend Divine services on
Sunday because they cant get a
shave in the town.

A gentleman from near Brooks—
ville in Randolph county, who vis
ited Dawson during the Associa
tion, last week, wore a large lump
of asafoetida around his neck as a
disintectant- e was afraid that
some of the visiting brethren who
had been breathing miasma might
cive him the vellow fever. The
string to which the sweet-smelling
drug was tied happened to work
up above the gentleman’s collar
when it was brought to light by a
a friend and exposed to a crowd.
Believing that ‘‘an honest confes
sion is good for the soul,” the gen
tleman from Randolph owned up.
