ult., at her home in this county, of
congestive chill, Mrs. Rachel A. Mc-
Clelland, wife of Mr. Win. McClel
land. Aged 52 years and 18 days.—

An Oi.d and Useful Citizen Gone.
Maj. Henry Atkinson died at his
residence in this city on yesterday
evening. He had been in failing health
for a long time and his death was
not unexpected. He was a useful
citizen and his loss will not be easily
filled. Ilis afflicted family have the
sympathies of the whole community-
Miss Catharine Rogers, a most es
timable young lady, and eldest daugh
ter of Jesse Rogers, Jr., died at her
home in this city on Monday morning
last, after a protracted illness of sev
eral months, of consumption. Her
remains were deposited in the city
cemetery on the following afternoon,
a large concourse of friends and rel
atives attending her burial. A sui
table obituary will be published in
proper time.
Mrs. Nancy Wade, wife of John
E. Wade, and daughter of Solomon
and Susan Harris of Warren county,
died at her home in Terrell county,
January 20th, 1878. The deceased
was an excellent Christian lady, and
died in the triumphs of Christian
faith. She professed faith in Christ,
and united herself with the Metho
dist church sixteen years ago, under
the ministry of the Rev. James E.
Thornton. She leaves a bereaved
husband and five children to mourn
their irreparable loss.
