The Conyer’s Examiner has the
following account of a ter;i-le disas
ter in Rockdale couniy, Qa,: “ I't.e
worst melancholy accident 'Hat we

Kenny, who reeidea iii the neighbor
hood of Tabernaclo Ciiurch, in the
northwestern portion of our couuty,
had been with his family to visit his
brother- n-law, Rev. D T. Ilamner,
at Echo, and was returning home. —
He was not familiar with tho road,

darkness concealed from him, he at

wagon containing his wife and five

ble momentum of a tornado, it was
dashed down tho stream, the body

A drunken negro in Pike county
one night last week attempted to com
mit an outrage upon the daughter of
one of the most respectable citizen of
the county. The young lady was
awakened from her slumbers by the
negro, who had entered the room and
approached her bed. He was evi
dently under the influence of liquor.
The screams of the female brought as
sistance, and the scoundrel was cap
ured, but subsequently made 1i i
escape.
Mr. O’F aherty undertook to tell

two Grogans was one, myself was two,
Mike Finn was three, and—aud—

A distinguished politician, while
conversing with a lady the other
evening, became piqued by her atten
tions to a beautiful dog that was rest
