At the suggestion and solicitation ol
many of cur citizens, who are deeply
interested in the building up of a cot
ton Factory in Dawson, the Dawson
Manufacturing Company, ut a a»“eting
yesterday, determined to increase their
capital stock, for this purpose. This
is a splendid arrangement and one
which almust insures the success of the
enterprise. They have a business al
rea ly established—one that must of
itself pay a fine dividend to the stock*
holder. With their machinery, already
oh hand, aud their splendid Foundry,
they would bo enabled to start oil in
this new enterprise under very favora
ble circumstances, and with less eX
ponse than eouid a newly organized
company.
The proposition to new stockhold
ers is exceedingly liberal, allowing
them to come in upon tho sains foot
ing with those already belonging to
the Manufacturing Company.
As far as location is concerned, no
more eligible she can be found any
where about Davson, than is oflertd
by the company.
Several of the old stockholders have
signified their willingness to increase
their stuck, and already others have
come forward and subscribed liberal

A meeting is called for the 4th day
of July for the purpose of taking fur
ther action in this great enterprise. It
is certainly unnecessary to exhort the
people to come out. They will surely
come without this. It is an investment
that will pay handsomely, largely. It
will add to the prosperity of the town
the county, and the country around.
Let the people come up on Saturday
DETERMINED THAT THE FACTORY
SHALL BE BUILT ! If we should

and do it for us, either here or some
where around u», and reap the rich
harvest of profits that might have been
ours.

Writer plainly. Klcgnnt writing is
often unreadable, and it is better to
write legibly even if you think plain
letters not ser handsomo. IB particu
lar to make all proper names arid fig
ures especially plain. Flourishes arc
out of place in a bn: incss letter.
When ordering goods state carefully
what you want, aud the amount you eu
close.
lo replying to a letter it is well to
begin by stating in brief tho substance
of Iti at letter’s contents, so your eorres
pendent will see that you have got his
meaning, as well as to refresh his nietu
ory about the matter you arc writing
on.
Always tign your name and address
in foil to each letter you write even
though you have written to the same
person before. Be careful to give post
office, county and state very plainly as
names are similar. It is well to spell
tbe name of your state in full.
Always read your letter over before
enclosing in tbe envelope, to make Sure
you have not forgotten anything. If
money is to be enclosed be sure it h.—
Beal and direct plainly.
It is well to make a little memoran
dum, at the time of writing, of what
you have written, time, <fce. This will
be bandy to refer to iu case of any mis
take.
If a dealer does not in due time re
spond to an order en'rustcd to him, in
justice to yourself and him you should
write for an explanation. Btate when
| you wrote to him, what you wrotcTor,
amount, if afly. enclosed, how yoti di
rected the goods to be sent, and any
other information you think irfiprrrtaut.
If you do not remember thb exact ditto,
