V J The True Citizen, WAYNESBORO, GA., FRIDAY, OCT. 6, 1882 • The Survival of the Fittest.' FOB OOSORBSHMAN AT LARUE HON. THOS. HARDEMANy OF BIBB. FOR CONORFSB, lflT DIBTRICr, HON. JOHN C. NICHOLLS, or PIEBOE. IS IT VERY IMPORTANT t ft is customary to rank each coming Legislature ‘ris the moat important Legislate! e which ever met in the Htate.” We have not, however heard this “old saw” raised during the present canvass, neither do we believo it could have been done with any great, show of truth, as we know of only some four or live subjects upoi which tho Dext Leg isiatura will be called upon to think and act profoundly. The Stale finan ces are in good condition, the laws of the Salt need very little change, and we already have enough of tin m. and with the abundant crops with which providence has blessed us throughout our herders our p ojsle are prosperous and happy. 'Hiero appears, then, to be no reason for a long session, certainly not Ion .or than the legal limit. Therefore, v. e hope the Legislature will make quick lime with the work of the session, and show their good ense by doing but little an l doing that iitle well. Indefinite announcements of the com ing to aynesboro of the grand and new Menagerie and Circus have been quite sufficient to make a sensation, and now that Tuesday, October 24th is posi'ively announced as the date of its appearance, there will be a regular i.ld f ishioned aw ikening. Purely the hills tell of enough to drive sleep from the eyes of the young, and revive in the 'hearts of the old mujh of the circus tirp of youth, and w hen the splendid siren parade arrives with its elephants, camels, dromedaries and wild beasts in caravan ; its grand and gorgeous char~ iota, cars and cages ; its three fine mar tial bands and new Levi than Locomo tive Steam Orcheslra, and its hundreds of wonders and amusing eights, every body will be attracted to the half mill ion of brilliantly electric-lighted tents. It is unquestionably lbe most stupen dous railroad menagerie and circus e er organized in America, and can lay fair claim to the tit e of “Univ. rsal luving Exposition.” That it is vast, and /inviting beyond precident, and fully and fairly up to the advertisements, is amply vouched for by the hearty en comiums by both the press aud public wherever its canopied wonderland has hailed, and that it will many times re pay the expense and trouble of a visit is equally certain. We need not now recapitulate the many rare and exclu sive features it has collec'ed from overv e ime, at fahulons costs and alone pre sents. From the only living White Nile Hippopotamus and the fourteen v ndciful, beautiful and intelligent performing horses, to the Electric Light, they have been more talked about than the gr at ship canal, and a iy one of at least a baker’s dozen of hem is a first-c'ass show alone ; while ia the splendid and varied street parade will be seen a splendid free display to dazzle and delight the wonder rounded eye. It is truly a great and most libe rally managed exhibition, which all enn consistently patronize with both profit and pleasure. The parade will com mend itself to all lovers of the attract ive in spectacular effects, and, as ar langements have been made with all the railroads for cheap excursions, it amounts to almost a certainty that the surrounding population will avail itself of ihe privilege and bo in town at an early hour, so as not to miss the pro- oessi n, and also the fine outside as- oeasion on a single invisible wiro.
