Georgia sends a solid delegation of ten good Democrats to Congress.— Felton in the 7th and Speer in the 9th Districts are beaten by over 2,000 each. The 1st, our own District, elects Nich- olls by a very large majority—probably more than 5,000. G.ory enough for one day! New York gives Cleveland, Demo- (fra ic candidate for governor, over 100 000 majority, and shows a grand to* tail which is pronunced fabulous. Our Augusta exchanges ofTu'siny, bring us 'he particulars of an indigna tion meeting held by all classes of ci;- isous of Augusta, on Monday night, to give publicexpie .sion of disapprobation of the sent’ments of an editorial article contained in the Sunday’s edition of the , Chronicle attacking the political c urse of Hon. J. C. C. Black in toe late Congressional canvass. Speeches were ma le Jay prominent gentlemen in the most dignified manner censuring iho action of the editor of the Chroni cle in unmeasured terms. The attack on Mr. Black seems to have aroused 1 he .indignation of all classes of citizens of Augusta, and will be echoed through out the borders of Georgia. The article in question was predicated upon , a letter written by Mr Black to Hon. J. T. Jordan, member of the present Legislature from Hancock county, in re ponse to a request of Mr. Jordan asking Mr. Black* to allow the use of his name as a candidate for United States Senator, and which letter no io ta iigent. uubiased maa can read with out a feeling of admiration for both the head and heart that dictated it. We read the article alluded to in Sunday's Chronicle with a feeling of disagreeableness, for so palpable was the personal motive which suggested it that not even could Mr. Randall’s glit tering rhetoric conceal the barbed steel of petty spite contained therein. Nei ther. we apprehend, will Col. Walsh’s telegraphed endorsement of the unpro voked, unmeri’od attack upon Mr. Black brush away the lion which stands in his p ith, or bolster the fail ng foitunes of his favorite—Colquitt.
