candidate for President. Oh! how
lonely lie must feel.
&JT The New Orleans Times-
Demoerat entertains the opinion
that a tariff for revenue only will
degrade the women of tho country
and reduce them to a state of drudg
ery. Of all tho absurdities ever
propagated, this is surely the great
est.
&.S8T General Grant has within
the last fortnight got on a boom as
the coming liadicnl candidate for
President. All right, Mr. Grant,
we had rather beat you than any
other member of your corrupt and
profligate party, and it' our leaders
will give the Democratic party
a loader upon whom they can unite
and support with enthusiasm, tho
del'd will done.
thk Miaini! vi st no.
A hopeless rupture seems to have
occurred between the two wings of
the Ihulical party in this State, for
which there seems to be no
balm. The Pryant wing, composed
principally of the “white niggers”
of the party, have drawn a strict
“color line,” and by their actions say
to the “black niggers,” of the party,
“see here, you black follows can’t
have any more ofllces.” The fol
lowing resolutions wore passed at a
mooting of the white Rads, held in
Atlanta on the 17th inst., at which
thi' black Rads are vigorously
kicking:
Whereats’, The elective franchise
the real source of all true liberty,
and thi> foundation of a republican
form of government, has become
fearfully corrupt and degraded by
political tricksters in our State,be it
Jtesolrrd, That we, the white
men hero assembled, together with
such other white men, regardless of
past political party affiliations, who
are willing and desirous to co-ope
rate in an effort to bring about a
reform in our Slate, will meet in
Atlanta, (la., on the 8th day of
April next, at 1“ m., for the purpose
of consultation, and to take such
political action as it may he deem
ed wise and proper at that time.
The above preamble and resolution
was signed by old man .Johnathan
Noreross, the lather of Radicalism
in Georgia, as chairman, and W. R.
Clark as secretary, and endorsed by
the signature of the most promi
nent Radicals in the State. It will
be observed that the black Radicals
are not invited, and we deem it the
entering wedge by the Radical party
to deprive the negroes of the South
of the franchise.
a i)AX(fKuor.s m:i:ko.
A negro calling himself John F.
Clark, and who says he is from Cin
cinnati, has lately been travelling
through the State making incendia
ry speeches, and attempting to stir
up the negroes to insurrection. He
goes into the woods at night, and
makes these nltrocious harangues,
which are, of course, always attend
ed by large crowds.
lie tells the negroes that General
Grant is backing him with $-10,0110,
or any other amount he may need,
and that there will be thousands of
troops anil car loads of artillery at
San 'ivsville on the It 1st of March,
and that they must go there to meet
him. All of which is an absurd lie,
but the negroes seem to have just
sense enough to believe it.
lie advises the negroes not to
work for less than $2 a day, w hich
h is had the etl’eet to badly demoral
ize labor in the vicinity of Saiulers-
ville and other places, lie urges
the negroes to rise to a man, and
kill all the white men, outrage the
women and slay all the male chil
dren. lie tells them that they
must not stop to think what the
white people have done for them,
that they have been sleeping over
their rights for eighteen years, and
that lie was there to tell them what
Ihelr rights were, and that no white
man dared to arrest him. lie says
ail (Ids and much more of the same
kind of stuff. The negroes wherev- I
er he has been are reported to be !
excited an restless, and some of
them may yet get themselves into j
trouble.
Gn last Thursday night lie made a
speech in the woods, near 1‘itl’s
Chapel, In Jones eoun y, to a largo
crowd of negroes, and came near
being arrested. The sheriff of that
county, wished to arrest him, and
made his way through the crowd for
that purpose, but Clark saw him,
and leaped from tho stump upon 1
which lie was standing, and ran.—
Tho shorin'tired lit him, but failed
to hit him, and ho mado good his.
escape. Rut if he does not leave
Georgia very soon, ho is certain in
be captured and made to answer for
his attempt to create an insurrec
tion.
We are of the'opinion that tills
negro ('lark is an emissary of North
ern Radicals, and that lie is here to
oroute a disturbance and an ex
citement, or an insurrection, if
possible, for the purpose of manu
facturing political capital for the!

coming Presidential campaign.— i
They seem to be impressed With |
| the opinion that without the occur-;
mice of some great covulsion be
tween the race •; in the South which
they can misrepresent, and by j
which they may tire the Northern !
heart, their chances for success in ;
I the Presidential election next fall |
are almost hopeless. Such fraud as
was perpetrated to cheat Tilden out
of l.iis seat will not bear repetition,
and a new line of trickery must be
adopted—and this is it. The white
Radicals of the North have cheated
and deceived the blacks of the
South so unmercifully and so often, j
that they have lost much of their
influence, and hence they send one
of their Northern negro emissaries,
charged to the brim with incendi
arism to execute their dark de
signs; and as Georgia lias been qui
et so long, they seem to have de
termined to make it their field of
operations. They are unscrupulous,
and would not hesitate to incite an
insurrection, the result of which
would ho murder and repine, to
carryout their designs; the negroes
are ignorant and excitable, and just
such speeches as this black scoun
drel Clark is making may produce
that hitter fruit. In view' of all
these facts, and for self preserva
tion, let our people meet all such
incendiaries as this negro Clark
“with Moody hands and hospitable
graves.”
We do not apprehend any diili-
euliy with the negroes of this coun
ty. They got enough of this fool
ishness during the Joe Morris rev
olution. Rut right here we wish to
say a word of warning to them, and
that is to have nothing to do with
W. J, White,the negro preacher and,
political agitator of Augusta, who
has already been here a time or t wo
making speeches to them. The fa
miliar manner with which Clark
speaks of White, forces the conclu
sion that there’s some union between
them in some way; and although
While pretends now to be only in
the interest of colored education,
should he get your ear and poison
your minds trouble is sure lo grow
out of it. Therefore we caution you
let him alone.

We want, live, energetic and cap
able agents in every county in the
United Stales and Canada, to sell
a patent article of great merit, on
ft# inert/#. An article having a
large sale, paying over 100 per cent,
profit, having no competition, and
on which the agent is protected in
the exclusive sale by a deed given
for each and every county he may
secure from us. With all these
advantages to our agents, and the
fact that it is an article that can be
sold to every house owner, it might
not be neccessary to make an “A’.r-
traordinari/ Offer'' to secure good
agents at once, but wo have eon-
eluded to make it to show, not only
our confidence! m the merits of our
invention, but in its salability by
yny agent that will handle it with
energy. Our agents now at work
are making from $150 to $000 a
month clear, and this fact makes it
safe for us to make our offer to all
who are out of employment. Any
agent that will give our business a
thirty days’ trial and fail to clear at
least $100 in this time, above all
expenses, can return all goods un
sold to us and we will refund the
money paid for them, dfliy agent
or general agent who would like
ten or more counties and work them
through sub-agents for ninety days,
and fail to clear at least $750 above
all expenses, can return all unsold
and get their money back. No
other employer of agents ever dared
to make such offers, nor would we
if we dill not know that we have
agents now making more than
double the amount we guaranteed,
and that but two sales a day would
give a profit of over $125 a month,
and that one of our agents took
eighteen orders in one day. Our
large descriptive circulars explain
our oiler fully, and those we wish
to send to every one out of employ
ment who will send us three one
cent stamps for postage. Send at
once and secure the agency in time
for the lioom, and go to work on the
terms named in our extraordinary
offer. We would like to have the
address of all the agents, sewing
machine solicitors and carpenters
in the country, and nslc any reader
of this paper who reads this oiler,
to send, us at once the name and ad
dress of all such they know. Ad
dress at once, as this advertisement
will not appear again, and you will
loose the best chance ever tillered
to t hose out of employment to make
money.
