Horrors of Mineral Poisoning.
Oglethorpe,| Macon Co., Ga.,
Aug. 25, 1884.—When a young man
of 25 years I took mercury in pills
and was exposed to the weather,
being a railroad man. The result
was salavation and the poisoning
of my whole system with mercury.
1 suffered untold misery for years.
Some few years ago I broke the
skin on my right leg, and the poi
son in my blood produced an ulcer,
from which I suffered so much pain
that amputation was regarded ne
cessary. But instead of having the
operation performed I commenced
taking S. S. S. The ulcer lias en
tirely disappeared, and no symptom
of tiie blood poison left. I am in
better health than I have been for
years, and I have no hesitancy in
saying that it is the best blood pu
rifier in the world. I know where
of I speak, as 1 have given many of
them a fair trial. I honestly be
lieve that S. S. S. has added ten
years to my life. J. II. Morgan.
PAINFUL ULCERS.
My mother, who is about seventy-
five years old, and a resident of
Dooly county, had an ulcerated
ankle which gave her great pain
and trouble. It became aggravat
ed to a fearful degree, and every
application of known or suggested
remedies failed to bring relief. Phy
sicians prescribed but to no avail.
After six months suffering I induc
ed her to try 8. 8. 8. One bottle
had the remarkable effect of pro
ducing a perfect cure, and there
has been no return of the disease,

CANCER FOR MANY YEARS.
A family servant lias been afflict
ed for many years with a cancer on
her nose, and was treated bv some
of the best physicians and the old
remedies used without benefit.
Finally we gave her Swift’s Specific
and she has been completely cured.

Early Morgan Trotters.
American Cultivator.
As the descendants of Justin
Morgan, through his grandson,
Vermont Black Hawk, are being
appreciated more and more every
year, perhaps it would be interest
ing to many to look back thirty
years or so and see what some of
the Morgans of that day did in the
trotting line. These performances
were all made from twenty-eight to
forty-two years ago, and do not in
clude the descendants in the male
line of the numerous and fast ones
of Ethan Allen. Daniel Lambert,
General Knox, Fearnaught the
Morrills and others, within the past
fifteen years. When we rdlhember
that the average time made by
winning horses in 1852 was only two
minutes and fifty seconds we can
appreciate the Morgans of thirty
years ago. As dams when bred to
stallions of other strains of blood
than Morgan they have been the
means in many cases of lifting thier
progeny to a higli pinnacle of fame,
and many times too, without due
credit being given them.
Forty-two years ago Black Hawk
won a match of $ 1,000 by trptting
five miles in sixteen minutes. In
1843 he won a race of two-mile heats
with ease, best time 5:43. Single
miles he made at different times in
2:42. In 1853, Black Hawk Maiq,
by Black Hawk, won a race of two-
mile heats in 5:23. In 1847, Lady
Sutton, by Morgan. Eagle, won a
race of two-mile heats, best time
5:17. In 1843, Beppo, by Gilford
Morgan, won a race, best time 2:31‘4
During the same year, Pissarro, by
Morgan Ctesar, won a race in 2:35.
In 1853, Vermont Boy won a
tliree-uiile race to wagqh in 8:32.
In 1853, when Ethan was only three
years and ten months old, he won
a race in 2:36. In 1853 Blue Mor
gan won a race, best time, 2:83>£.
In 1852, Black Ralph, by Black
Hawk, won a heat of two miles in
5:33 l . l . In 1855, Chicago Jack and
Know-Nothing, also called Lancet,
both Morgans, trotted in a match
race: Know-Nothing won the first
heat in 2:27'.j, and Chicago Jack
took the third in 2:27>^. In 1855,
Belle of Saratoga, by Black Hawk,
won a race in 2:2i)>£. In 1852, Sher
man Black Hawk won a race on Ice
in 2:42. In 1850, Flying Morgan
won a race on the ice in 2:48.
In 1840, Mac, by Morgan Ctesar,
won a race under saddle in 2:20)^.
In 1856, Whalebone and Lantern
won u double team in 2:42. Black-
stone Belle won a race In 1850 in
2:28>£. Kottlebail, foaled in 1850,
has a rocord of 2:318ho was by
Pollard Morgan. One of the most
remarkable trotting horses of her
day was Fanny Jiuiks, She was
raised In Vermont, and was called
a Morgan. Sho stood but 14?4
hands high. In 18-14 she trotted
ten miles to sulky, carrying 145
pounds, in 20:50. In 1840 she trot
ted 100 miles against tiino. She
performed the entire distance In
nine hours, eighteen minutes and
twenty-seven seconds.
