Cancer* Comioered.
Tim Swift Specific Company lmve
tho most indubitable evidence as to
the cure of cancer by their famous
medicine, S. S. S. Among others,
John S. Morrow, an old and highly
esteemed citizen of Florence, Abu.
makes the following statement as
to the merits of this remedy:
“I have been suffering with a can
cer in my right ear, for about three
years. I tried various remedies
and was treated with Iodide of Pot
ash, which produced rheumatism.
My feet and legs was greatly swol
len, so that I could not walk. About
one year ago I was induced to try
Swift’s Specific, which soon remov
ed the trouble in my limbs, and my
rheumatism Is entirely gone and
my Cancer is steadily improving,
being better now than at any time
within two years. This medicine
has done me more good than any
thing else I have taken,, and I feel
that I am on the road to a speedy
cure. Undoubtedly Swift’s Specific
is the best blood purifier in the
world.”
John S. Morrow.
Florence, Ala., Sept. 22, ’84,
I have had a cancer on my face
for many years. I have tried a
great many remedies, but without
relief. I almost gave up hope of
ever being cured. Dr. Hardman,
my son, recommended Swift’s Spe
cific, which I have taken with great
results. My face is almost well,
and it is impossible for me to ex
press my thanks in words for what
this medicine has done for me.

Thus early in the history of the
Morgan horse it was an admitted
fact that, though small, lie could
not be beaten where speed, strength
and endurance were the test. When
we see this same animal driven to
harness, or ridden by the aged and
infirm with perfect safety and con
fidence, and next see him at a mili
tary review, mounted by the cnm-
mander-in-chief, displaying all the
fire and pride imaginable; and, after
a lapse of nearly fifty years, witness
the same remarkable traits in many
of lvis descendants, we are con
strained to admit that blood is, in
deed, of no small importance to the
business of horse-breeding. It
should be well understood that,
throughout the long life of the Jus
tin Morgan and also of his immedi
ate offspring, want of size was the
universal and only objection. No
man of ordinary judgment could
fail to discover his peculiar points
of excellence, his oblique shoulders,
high crest, fine ear, prominent and
sagacious eye, perfect head, large
aiid expanded nostrils, strong loins,
long hips, deep and well-spread
chest, high wither, short pasterns,
strong and sinewy limbs, with all
the important muscles far surpass
ing in size those of any other horse
of lffs weight seen in America.
Senator Beck, of Kentucky, and
^Representative Wilkins, of Ohio,
were talking recently, when the
Kentuckian espied the picture of a
horse hanging on the wall.
“There,” he exclaimed with rapt
ure, “is a picture of Lexington, the
grandest horse that ever stood on
four feet!”
“Yes,” said Mr. Wilkins, “he is
certainly a very remarkable horse.
Was he a trotter or a runner?”
A look of ineffable scorn passed
over Senator Beck’s broad, express
ive countenance. “Was he a trot
ter or a runner?” ho repeated, as
tonishment, pity, and profound dis
gust beinjg.blended in the tones of
his voice. “Was he a trotter or a
runner?” “Well, well, well, I do
declare, I never heard of such as
tounding ignorance before in the
whole course of my life, excepting
on one occasion, and that was three
years ago, and a fellow Senator was
the frightful example. Iroquois,
had won the English Derby, and
we Kentuckians naturally felt
proud of the success of the Ameri
can racer abroad, and waited with
breathless anxiety for news from
France that would tell us of the
victory or defeat of tho Kentucky-
bred Foxhall, who was entered for
the grand prize of Paris. Tho day
of the race I opened my newspaper
and looked for tho Paris date line
the first thing. 1 was overjoyed to
find that Foxhall had indeed won,
and sent a page for Senator Allison.
When he came over to my desk I
IKilnted to the Paris telegram and
asked him ‘to road that.’ He read
the paragraph and calmly express
ed his great gratification over the
victory. After he had run on
awhile he paralyzed me by the In
quiry: “Was it a trotting or a run
ning race that Foxhall won?” Ima
gine my feelings. Words could not
expross them. I fell back in my
chair speechless, and didn’t speak
to tho Senator from Iowa for two
wtfeks. Brother Wilkins, I would
like to see you In Kentucky, hut as
a friend I must advise you to read
up on Lexington before you cross
the Ohio. If the Kentuckians
should suspect you of not knowing
whether Lexington was a trotter
ora racer it might go hard with
