The Indies of the Methodist church request
us lo say that they will have a table nt tho

cy and useful articles for the benefit of tho
church. It Is hoped that this venture as well

Many of our people have been In attend- |
nnce at tho Stale Fair tills week. Those who
have returned seem well pleased. All agree
that It was a success. The exhibits were large,
varied and good In all tho departments. Tho
attendance was larger than at any previous
exposition. The stock exhibit showed a mark
ed improvement over proceeding years. The
racing was unusually good. The fact Is evid
ent, Georgia Is fast Improving—sho Is one of
the most progressive states In the Union. AVe
congratulate Major AVlIklns upon the suc
cess of his exhibits. He entered four head of
stock, Commodore, for the best trotting stal
lion, Molllo B, for the best trotting mare,
Katie Steiner, Golddust, for tho best trotting
one year old filly, and Hainlet, for the best
Jack, all open to the world. Each one took
the blue ribbon—the first prize. Commodore
showed his lino breeding by Ills superb ap
pearance and magnificent, action In harness-
lie carried everything by storm. The fine
Impression lie made Is cv need by tho fact
that so young a stallion, (only four years old)
should have taken tlio first prize over such
competition us wore shown against him.—
Another remarkable fact, was, that his first
colt should have taken first prize in a ring of
twenty-odd. Hamlet was on his mettle, and
showed off lo tho best advantage. The best
Judges of horse-flesh agreed that Burke coun
ty was to he congratulated upon the posses
sion of two such animals as Commodore and
Hamlet. Molllo II, easily won first prize as
best road-mare over numerous on trios. She
wns not entered In the trotting race, as was
first Intended, on account of bad condition of
tho track, It being quito rough and heavy.—
Thus encouraged, Burko county should muko
a still bettor showing next year, and prove
that she Is entitled to what sho Iuib long
claimed for herself, the first rank among tho
best counties In the state.

All about through the city we find the gates y»u are sure of reliable goods
down, hung by ono lilnge, or drugging the
ground. Neither Is this state of affairs con
fined to tho city, but gates In tho country,
plantation gates—In fact all classes of gates
are In the same dilapidated condition. Tills
led as to Inquire for tho cause of this stute of
things, and after Investigation we have come
to tho conclusion that It all hinged on llio
weight of the gate. There Is usually enough
timber put Into one gate to make at least
three, and there Is not a set of liuges yet
manufactured which will bear this extra
weight as the gate Is rudely swung lo and fro,
but It will soon swag and a hinge give way,
and tho gate Is rendered a nuisance rather
than a convenience. There is not a particle
of use of all this extra Umber while the c m-
sequent extra weight will always break down
the gate. Make your gates light, we suggest
that they he constructed of a light, strong
frame filled In with barbed wire. This would
be an effective harrier to tho entrance of any
animal, while the light weight would allow
try D rA tllcm to remain in tact. -—

When in the Wrong Channel
The bile wreaks grievous Injury. Headaches,
constipation, pain In the liver and stomach,
jaundice, nausea ensue. A lew doses of
Hostetter’s Stomach Bitters will reform
these evils and prevent further Injury. It Is
a pleasant aperient, Its action upon the
bowels being unaccompanied by griping.
The liver Is both regulated and stimulated
by It, and as It Is very lmpolltio to disre
gard disorder of that organ, which through
neglect may culminate In dangerous conges
tion and hepatic abscess, the Bitters should
be resorted to an early stage. Failure to do
this renders a contest with the malady more
protracted. Fever and ague, rheumatism,
kidney and bladder troubles, are remedied
by this fine medicine, and the Increasing In
firmities of ago mitigated by It. It may be
also used in convalescence with advantages
•s It hastens the restoration of vigor.
