Prince, an old horse of war fame,
belonging to James II. Hathaway,
of Fauquier county, Va., died on the
25th ultimo, at the age of twenty-
six. During the late war Prince
was ridden by Lieutenant Smith, a
member of Colonel Ashby’s old com

battle-field of Chancollorsville. The
ball lodged in the hip of the good
old horse, jand for more than twenty
one years he carried, from the gory
field of Chancellorsville, this “thorn
in the flesh,” as a relic of his faith
