tTIne Cellar Kmptlcil.
At Ian I n Constitution.
Judge Lochrane will not be a judg-
wump. This distinguished gentle
man, it will be remembered, took a
firm and decided stand for prohibi
tion in the late election.
It was charged by some that lie,
together with other wealthy gentle
men, would not be hurt by prohibi
tion, as they could buy as much
liquor and wine as they wanted and
keep it in their cellars.
Judge Lochrane said during tlie
campaign that after the election he
would take the corks out of every
jug in his cellar and pour the con
tents on the ground.
Last Friday evening Dr. Haw
thorne was visiting Judge Loch
rane, and after supper the Judge
ordered the servants to bring up all
the w ines and liquors in the cellar
and pour it from the back porch
onto the ground.
The Judge’s family and Dr. Haw
thorne witnessed the impressive
scene. Fine imported Scotch whis
kies and imported wines were pour
ed upon the ground.
Judge Lochrane says he wanted
tosetagood example to Ids chil
dren, and that he wanted to vindi
cate his consistency in taking such
an earnest part in the recent cam
paign.
Judge Lochrane’s well known
convivial nature adds a peculiar
feature to this act. He always lived
high, smoked good cigars, drank
line wines and had the very best of
everything. He now bids farewell
to all kinds of intoxicants, and when
he says he will do a thing it will be
done. When this gentleman held
the commission ot judge he never
tasted wine or liquor. He gave it
up then, and is willing to give it up
now.

congregations, Will Matthews and
Miss Hosier Osburn hurried from

home of the groom, a short distance
away, hut never reached it, for the
irate father of the young lady met
them, tore her rudely away, and
marched her to her own home.—
Later in the afternoon, with a re
