NO FREE SPEECH.
Something Very Much Like Martial
Law to Prevail In Bois, Idaho,
Boise, Idaho, May 8. —Asa pre
cautionary measure street preaching
or speaking will be stopped In Boise
during the trials of William D. Hey
wood, and the other leaders of the
Western Federation of Miners, for
the alleged murder of Frank Steun
burg. It is feared that freedom of
speech in the street may lead to lo
cal agitation for or against the prison
ers, and .possible disorders.
The city continues entirely quiet.
The occasional crank is the man fear
ed, rather than any concerted or sud
denly aroused general movement. Po
lice and detectives watch the railroad
and highways entering the city, and
it is the general belief that they will
be able at all times to fully con rol
the situation. Behind them is an
experienced militia, and two troops of
United States cavalry quartered at a
permanent post within the city limits.
Judge Freemont Woods has giveq
no indication to either side as to what
his decision may be in the matter of
the bill of particulars asked for by
the defense and argued. Should :hls
motion be granted, ’there will un
doubtedly be considerable delay in
oyerteg the case, as the defense
would, it is believed, ask for a post
ponement until they secured other
witnesses.
The city is rapidly filling up. Wit
nesses are arriving, many of them
from a long distance. The newspa
permen and magazine writers, have
engaged houses or flats for several
months, In the opinion that it will
take three months to try the ca-e.

WILL ISSUE A STATEMENT.
President Will Not Accept Nomina
tion Under Any Conditions—Refers
to a Former Declaration Made by
Him.
Chicago, May 3. —A dispatch to the
Tribune from Washington, D. C.,
says:
President Roosevelt has decided to
set at rest all talk that he will be
a candidate for the Republican nomi
nation for the presidency next year.
It was learned Thursday on the
highest authority that at the proper
moment the president will Issue a
statement to the American people an
nouncing that he will not accept re
nomination under any conditions, and
calling attention to the declaration he
made on the night he was elected
In November, 1904, as follows:
“The wise custom which limits the
president to two terms regards the
substance and not the form. Under
no circumstances will I be a candidate
for or accept another nomination.”
The advisability of a statement at
the present time has been forced up
on the attention of the president as
the result of earnest representations
made to him by Intimate friends, pol
iticians and people residing in every
section of the countrv who want him
to run again. Naturally the president
feels flattered by the appeals made to
him to be once more a candidate, but
he is inclined to attribute these
gestions rather to approval of the pol
icies he has initiated and enforced
than to any special' desire to keep
him In the White House, If the Re
publican iparty can be fi-iduced to
nominate a man like Secretary Root
or Secretary Taft, who peculiarly are
Identified w’ith the Roosevelt
the president believes th country will
be satisfied, for it will be assured that
the progressive program of this ad
ministration will not be abandoned.

Tlie Knock-out Blow.
The blow which knocked out Corbett
was a revelation to the prize fighters.
From the earliest days of the ring UlO
knock-out blow was aimed for the jaw,
the temple or the jugular vein. Stomach
punches were thrown in to worry and
weary the fighter, but if a scientific man
had told one of the old fighters that the
most vulnerable spot was the region of
the stomach, he’d have laughed at him
for an ignoramus. I)r. Pierce is bringing
home to the public a parallel fact; that
the stomach L the most vulnerable organ
out of the prize ring as well as in it. We
protect our htails, t hroats, feet and lungs,
but the stomach we are utterly indiffer
ent to, until disease finds the solar plexus
and knocks us out. Make your stomach
sound and strong by the use of Doctor
Pierce’s Golden Medical Discovery, and
you protect yourself in your most vulner
able spot. "Golden Medical Discovery”
cures "weak stomach,” indigestion, or
dyspepsia, torpid liver, bad, thin and im
pure blood and other diseases of the or
gans of digestion and nutrition.
The "Golden Medical Discovery ” has a
specific curative effect upon all mucous
surfaces and hence cures catarrh, no
matter where located or what stage it
may have reached. In Nasal Catarrh it
is well to cleanse the passages with Dr.
Sage’s Catarrh Remedy fluid while using'
the "Discovery ” as a constitutional rem
edy. Why the "Golden Medical Discov
ery ” cures catarrhal diseases, as of tho
stomach, bowels, bladder and other pelvic
organs will be plain to you if you will
read a booklet of extracts from the writ
ings of eminent medical authorities, en
dorsing its ingredients and explaining
their curative properties. It is mailed
free on request. Address Dr. 11. V. Pierce.
Buffalo, N. Y. This booklet gives all the
ingredients entering into Dr. Pierce’s
medicines from which it will be seen that
they contain not a drop of alcohol, pure,
triple-refined glycerine being used instead.
Dr. Pierce’s great thousand-page illus
trated Common Sense Medical Adviser
will be sent free, paper-bound, for 21 one
eent stamps, or cloth-bound for 31 stamps.
Address Dr. Pierce as above.
