Hamilton Says
McAdoo Winner
Augusta, Ga., Feb. 26.—The chances
of William G. McAdoo to secure the
Georgia delegation grow stronger ev
ery day. The large number of Mc-
Adoo clubs over the state have in
creased rapidly, especially during the
past week after his host of ardent sup
porters so enthusiastically endorsed
his candidacy, and droves of citizens
hourly seek to be counted among his
friends.
From Augusta, Thomas J. Hamilton,
editor of The Augusta Chronicle and
chairman of the Georgia McAdoo com
mittee, who headed the Georgia dele
gation at hte Chicago convention on
Feburuary 18th and assured those in
attendance in a brilliant speech that
Georgia, the state of Mr. McAdoo’s
nativity, was a solid unit behind his
candidacy, has issued the following
statement:
“The state of Georgia, never latent
in its behalf in the superiority of its
native son as the one democratic can
didate for the presidency of the United
States who is certain of election to
that high office, has come out strong
er than ever in its demand that the
delegation from Georgia be sent to the
national democratic convention in New
York with instructions to stand one
hundred per cent behind the candi
dacy of William G. McAdoo.
“McAdoo clubs in the state, number
ing over one hundred and with mem
bership of over 50,000 men and women
are strengthening themselevs, and
numbers of others are springing up in
all sections of the state. Reports re
ceived from these organizations are
most encouraging. Constantly from
every county come reports of leading
citizens making enthusiastic talks in
behalf of his candidacy.
“Recently at Monroe, during the noon
recess of court, E. B. Weatherly, prom
inent Macon attorney, delivered a
strong speech for Mr. McAdoo and
was enthusiastically received. Pre
vious to speaking, Mr. Weatherly
rfade a canvass of the business dis
trict of Monroe in company with Ed.
A. Caldwell, editor of The Walton
News, and was most cordially receiv
ed He found McAdoo supporters a.t
every turn and was assured that Mc-
Adoo would carry Walton county.
“This is only an instance of the
general trend of expression through
out the state. Only a few days ago
Mrs. Edgar Alexander, of Atlanta,
state manager of the women’s head
quarters of the Georgia McAdoo com
mittee, issued a statement in which
she declared that Mr.Adoo wsa, the
most feared of the demorcatic candi
dates. Mrs. Alexander asserted that
was thought less strong was where re
publicans were carrying on a poison
campaign in behalf of any candidate
rather than him, for, Mrs. Alexander
repeats the republicans are afraid of
Mr. McAdoo.
“Georgians realize that William G.
McAdoo, native born Georgian and
lover of the south, will sweep the
country overwhelmingly on the demo
cratic ticket, and they are going to
call for their delegation when they go
ot the primaries on March 19th, to
stand behind him at the national
democratic convention in June."

Underwood Men
Begin Work in
State Campaign
Feb. 23. —Underwood Campaign
Headquarters express the utmost sat
isfaction at the progress of their cam
paign in Georgia, and state that thor
ough investigations made in every sec
tion leave no doubt of a decisive Un
derwood victory on March 19th.
Underwood leaders are stressing the
availability of the great Alabamian be
cause they believe him to be the best
equipped candidate for the position,
one who measures up to the highest
and best standards of American states
manship, and a Southerner who is
big enough, and Abroad enough to
make the Nation a great and success
ful chief executive.
The fact is frequently referred to
htat the times through which we are
passing demand a man of the type and
stature of Underwood, whose long and
brilliant official life has distinguished
him, not only as a safe ajid construc
tive leader, but as a man who can be
relied upon in every National emer
gency to safeguard the best interests
of the people, and preserve and per
petuate all those high ideals which
have helped to make the Nation
great.
The Underwood Headquarters point
to a most significant editorial publish
ed in Thursday’s Atlanta Journal,
taken from the Lowell (Mass) Courier
Citizen, and reprinted by the Boston
Transcript, the first a strong Demo
cratic paper; the second, a, politically
independent newspaper, and the lat
ter a strong adherent to the party of
President Coolidge, which is as fol
lows:
“To get rid of the men in whom no
one really has much confidence is, as
we see it, a duty which it would be
folly to shrink from. The weak sis
ters ought to go, merely because they
are weak sisters. Suspicion that some
are open to even grayer objections
may not be justifiable, but it certain
ly exists. What we want now is a
thoroughgoing process of overhauling
in order to make the administration’s
family one to be proud of, rather than
one to be perptually ajologized for and
extenuated.”
The Journal comments that “Verily,
Saul also is among the Prophets.” and
the friends of Senator Underwood
maintain that he is the man to whom
should be delegated the job of clean
ing up things at Washington and re
storing to the National Government
that confidence and esteem which
seems to have been badly abused and
misplaced.

WHAT IS AN AUTOMOBILE FOR?
Automobiles are made to conveniently and quickly carry peo
ple and property from one place to another.
WHAT IS MOTOR CAR VALUE—Motor car value is best
described as the car which will do this service satisfactorily and
at the least possible cost. In computing cost you have got to
figure what the car cost to begin with, that is the purchase price
and the cost of operation, including upkeep, gasoline and oils.
CHEAPNESS NOT ALWAYS ECONOMY.—Car which
cost the least to begin with is not necessarily the most economical
to own and operate. Neither is cheapness of replacement parts
complete evidence of economy of operation. Constantly being in
the shop and the consistent use of repair parts will soon overcome
differences which might exist on account of initial cost.
“ECONOMICAL TRANSPORTATION” Is the slogan adopt
ed by The Chevrolet Motor Co., for their new Superior model car
recently placed on the market. In this car you have combined—
First low cost to begin with —that is the purchase price is very
reasonable indeed. Then—the cost of operation extended over a
distance of ten thousand miles and upward is the lowest by test
of any car on the American market, and in this test differences
in initial cost was considered. Twenty five miles to the gallon of
gas and five hundred miles to a quart of oil is not infrequent Re
pair parts are not often needed but when required will be found
very reasonable in price.
