for greater power transmission
RUSCO transmits greater pulling power
„ from the pulley to the job because it is
solidly woven. Ply belting, whether stitched
or “stuck” together, pulls unevenly and
comes apart at the ply.
You want belting that has a holding-grip
and a miglity-pull. That’s Rusco!
You want the belting that returns the
greatest service for dollars invested. That’s
Rusco!
Rusco has no joints, exposed stitches or

and guaranteed by a concern that has had
93 years of “knowing how”.

Gov. Walker Issues
Proclamation for
Stone Mt. Memorial
An appeal to Georgians to com
plete Georgia's quota of $250,000 for
Stone Mountain Confederate Memorial
by Memorial Day, April- 26, was issued
Saturday by Governor Walker in a
proclamation designating April 19 to
26, inclusive, as “Stone Mountain Me
morial Week” throughout the state.
This day set apart in honor of the
soldiers, living and deqd, who fought
for the Confederacy, Governor Wal
ker pointed out, could not be observed
by Georgians in a more appropriate
manner than by subscribing the rela
tively small -qucta asked of their state
for “the greatest monument in the his
tory of mankind.”
He also called attention especially
to the Children’s Founders Roll for
boys and girls up to 18 years of age
who contribute $1 to the cost of the
work.
Memorial headquarters announced
Saturday that five new “Founders
Roll” subscriptions of SI,OOO each were
received last week which added to the
six the previous week made a total of
11 in two weeks. The five last week
were as follows.
By the directors of the First Nation
al Bank of Chattanooga in honor of
Captain Charles A. Lyerly, president
of the bank, a prominent figure in the
American Bankers’ Association, and a
gallant Confederate soldie \
By the Ladies’ Memorial Association
of Dallas, Tex., in memory of a Conted

er.
By the Willie Hunt Smith Chapter,

ory of the ‘ Barnesville Blues,” a
famous Conferedate company which
went out from that city.
By Mrs, Mary Delany Neville, of
ITpperville, Va., in memory of her
father, Col. Richard H. Delany.
By Mrs. Joseph M. Thomas, of Griffin
in memory of her father, Captain
William Joheph Kincaid
The Governor’s proclamation is as
follows:
“Whereas, Gutzon Borglum, the not
ed sculptor, is carving the precipice
cf Stone Mountain, in memory of the
Southern Confederacy the greatest
monument in hte history of mankind;
and,
“Whereas, the funds to defray the cost
of this splendid undertaking are being
raised through public subscription by
the Stone Mountain Confederate Monu
mental Association, a body of patrio
tic men and women who are generous
ly contributing their time and energy
without compensation, and who have
likewise given substantial financial as
sistance; and.
“Whereas, the Assocation has for
mulated a plan whereby the children
of the south, as well as the men and
women, are gven an opportunity to
play a great part in building this mon
ument and to perpetuate the names of
their Conferedate ancestors; and,
“Whereas, the people of Georgia
are asked to contrbiute $250,000 to the
cost of the work as their proportio
nate share, the ether southern states
having pledged similar quotas as soon
as Georgia does her part; therefore,
“I, Clifford Walker Governor of
Georgia, do hereby issue this, my proc
lamation:
‘First, I designate the week of April
19 to 26, inclusive, as Stone Mountain
Confederate Memorial Week through
out the commonwealth for the pur
pose of raising in the several countes
their respective quotas which shall go
to make up the quota of the state;
“Second, I commend to the boys
and girls of Georgia the Children’s
Founders Roll of the Stone Mountain
Confederate Memorial, and commend
it to their parents, to the end that
every child shall become a member
and founder of this glorious memorial
which shall endure through all the
ages;
“Third, I earnestly request and urge
the whole people of Georgia to give the
memorial the support it deserves, to
the end that the Confederate Memorial
Day of this year may be appropriately
observed by the complete enrollment
of the children, by complete fulfillment
cf the amount our state is asked ot con
tribute, and by complete avowal that
Georgians cherish the heritage of
glory handed down by their Confed
erate forefathers.

High-Flying Geese
Prove New Menace
to Army Aviators
New York, March 30.—Spring has
brought a new menace to army avia
tors.
Lieutenants M. L. Elliott and Hom
er B. Chandler, of Mitchell field, trav
eling from Buffalo to Mineola, en
countered a huge flock of geese 6,000
feet over Binghampton, and had to
do some lively dodging to keep the big
ganders, leading the northward wedge
of honkers, out of their propeller.
A goose flying into a revolving air
plane propeller would smash it to bits
the airmen, explained.
THE TBUE CITIZEN SATURDAY, APRIL 5, 19:24
Alleged Post
Office Thief
a Good Sport
The man arrested here late Satur
day afternoon by postoffice inspector
as Earl B. Raymond, charged with
stealing money orders at the postoffice
at Denver, Fla., has proven to be
George R. Woodman, according to In
spector T. H. Jervy and M. H. Acker
man of the Atlanta division who came
to the city today to take the- defendant
to Jacksonville for trial.
In order to legalize the movement
the inspectors applied this morning
to district attorney’s office for the
proper removal authority. Mr. Jervy
who has made au investigation of the
alleged acitvities of Woodman said
this morning seven of the 146 orders
stolen from the post office at Denver,
Fla., had been used in ordering com
modities from business housest in var
ious parts of the country. Most of
the property ordered with the stolen
orders alleged to have been filled in by
the defendant, has been recovered,
the inspectors state.
That Woodman possessed a sporting
streak in his makeup is shown by the
fact that recently he is alleged to have
“staked” the baseball team at Midville
to an outfit consisting of uniforms and
paraphernalia used on the diamond.
The aggregation is known as the “Mid
ville Diamond Dusters.” The ball play
ers were off »n a trip when the officers
were in that section and due to this
fact they are still using the property
purchased fer them by Woodman at a
cost of S9O. The property was bought
at Augusta for the Midville outfit.
