WPS Students Visit Pine Hill Schoolhouse
Waynesboro Primary School Kindergarten students from Mrs. Posey, Register, Rodgers,
Russell and Williams’ classes took a step back in time. As an introduction to a unit on
long-ago and today, students visited the refurbished one room Pine Hill schoolhouse.
They learned about the clothing, a student’s typical day and games of long-ago. “Stu
dents returned to Waynesboro Primary School with a new appreciation for our school
as it is today,” said WPS kindergarten teacher Schylea Williams.

Georgia Day at WPS
Second-grade students celebrated Georgia Day recently
as they “traveled across the state” by going to centers
related to different facts about Georgia. In the media
center they played Jeopardy and answered questions
about Georgia. The students sampled foods, such as
peanuts, peaches, grits, Coca-Cola and Vidalia onions.
In the gym they learned about the Masters Golf Tourna
ment, and were given the opportunity to putt a golf ball.
They also learned how to square dance and make a
Cherokee Rose. Ginger Jenkins, WPS music teacher,
gave the students a chance to get down and boogie to
songs by different artists from Georgia. Matt Shryock,
BCMS eighth-grade Georgia studies teacher, told stu
dents about the Cherokee and Creek tribes.
