The one act play team from Burke County High School collected several accolades at the Region 3-AAA competi
tion in Cochran. The group, which performed scenes from You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown, placed third in the
competition. The group’s set also won best design, and, Cannon McClain, pictured as Charlie Brown, was named
to the All-Star Cast. The Burke County High Thespian Society, which is led by drama teacher Victoria Price, re
cently presented the full musical for the community.

Cub scouts
Cub Scout Pack 414 conducted a food drive to support the food pantry at First
United Methodist Church of Waynesboro and spent a recent Saturday deliver
ing grocery bags to local neighborhoods. Residents filled the bags, which the
boys picked up the following week. Cub scouts and their leaders thank all those
who contributed for the charitable donations and to Harvey’s for the grocery

The Burke County Board of Commissioners will hold a Public
Hearing to consider the FY 2010 Budget on Tuesday December 8,
2009 at 4:30 PM in the Commissioners Meeting Room at the
Courthouse at 602 Liberty Street. Detailed copies of the proposed
