Job well done, Bears
The Burke County High School football team was treated to dinner last Thursday
night by a fan who wanted to honor their efforts on the gridiron this season. Local
businessman and ardent Bear fan Danny Bonnell picked up the tab for 130 steaks
and hauled his grilling trailer over to the high school to cook them just right. “I just
love high school football,” he said, shrugging his shoulders. Bonnell, who praised
the leadership of the coaches and the hard work of the players, said he hopes more
community members will become involved in the Bears football program and find a
way to support them. Above, from left, Bonnell watches as head coach Eric Parker
and athletic director Wade Marchman throw some more beef on the grill.
