Kathy Cullen Greene
Tommy Jefferson Allen Sr.
Sarah Kathryn “Kathy” Cullen
Greene died Tuesday, Dec. 8,
2009.
She was bom July 13, 1921 in
Bulloch County Georgia to
Charles Cullen and Madelle
Smith. The family then moved to
Burke County, where Kathy at
tended Cullen School until the
family’s move to Ocala, Fla. in
1929. She graduated from Ocala
High School in 1939. In 1940, she
married her husband of more than
60 years, Lawton H. Greene of
Sylvania, and to this union were
born two children, Dorothy
Greene Gibson and Charles
Greene.
She was preceded in death by
her husband, one sister and two
grandchildren. She is survived by
her children, five grandchildren,
11 great-grandchildren, three
great-great-grandchildren and
one sister, Louise Cullen Walls.
Kathy loved to travel and dur
ing their years together, she and
Lawton traveled from Florida to
Washington and finally settled in
New Mexico and later in Okla
homa, where she became
“Grandma” to all.
She was an avid Bible student,
whose greatest joy was telling
others about the hope of living
forever on earth when it is trans
formed into paradise. In her spare
time she adored oil painting and
gardening.
Services were held 2 p.m., Sat
urday, Dec. 12, at the Kingdom
Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses,
9100 N. Eastern Blvd. in Okla
homa City.

Kenneth Edwin Wall, 82, of
Waynesboro entered into rest
Monday, Dec. 7, 2009 at the
Charlie Norwood VA Medical
Center, Downtown Division in
Augusta.
He was bom on Dec. 11, 1926
in Englewood, NJ. An American
hero, he retired from the United
States Army Special Forces and
was a Prisoner of War in Korea
for two years. He was preceded
in death by his wife Louise A.
Wall.
He is survived by his guardian
Gary A. Glover of Augusta who
cared for Mr. Wall for many years.
Cryptside Services will be held
at 2 p.m., Friday, Dec. 11, at the
Burke Memorial Gardens Mau
soleum in Waynesboro.

Tommy Jefferson Allen Sr., 66,
of Hephzibah departed this life on
Saturday, Dec. 12, 2009 at the
Charlie
Norwood VA
Medical Center
in Augusta.
A native of
Sardis, he was
born May 21,
1943 to the late
James Dana
Allen and
Mildred Murray Allen. Tommy
was a veteran of the United States
Army having served from 1961 to
1964. He was a 32 nd degree Ma
son and Shriner. Tommy was a
contract salesman for multiple fur
niture stores in the southeast until
his retirement in 1998. For many
years he was a member of Friend
ship United Methodist Church.
He leaves to cherish his memory
his beloved wife, Janet Green
Allen; children, Tommy Jefferson
Allen Jr. (Angela), Dana Ashleigh
Allen, Carmen Gayle Allen, Caleb
Powers Allen and Heather Green;
his brothers, James “Jimmy”
Lloyd Allen, Sr. (Peggy) and Terry
Dana Allen (Dayle); grandchil
dren, Zachary Tobias Allen and
Stephen Lucas Cain; along with
several nieces, nephews, great
nieces and great nephews.
The family received friends
from 6-8 p.m„ Monday, Dec. 14,
at DeLoach-McKerley Funeral
Home.
Funeral Services were held
11a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 15, at
DeLoach-McKerley Funeral
Home.
Interment followed at the Allen
Family Cemetery (Allen Rd.). The
Rev. Wayne Dixon officiated.
Pallbearers were Mike Midlo,
Bob Greene, Chris Murray, Greg
Coursey, Victor Johnson, Troy
Allen, Charles Avery, Jimmy
Miller, Matthew Allen and Danny
Story.
Flowers are being accepted;
however, memorials may be made
to the Shriners Hospital, 950 West

Mildred Ann Palmer of
Waynesboro, devoted wife of the
late John T. Palmer Jr., entered into
rest Sunday, Dec. 13, 2009.
The family will receive friends
at the DeLoach- McKerley Fu
neral Home on 1-2:15 p.m.,
Wednesday, Dec. 16. Graveside
funeral service, performed by
Sheriff Greg Coursey, will be held
2:30 p.m., at Magnolia Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be John Palmer,
Ben Palmer, Scott Beny, Ashley
Hammett, Scott Hardin and Jason
Hughes.
Survivors include a daughter,
Rosemary P. Berry (Jerry) of
Fayetteville, N.C.; two sons, John
T. “Ted” Palmer, IU (Cookie) of
Gainesville and Charles J. "Jeff’
Palmer (Nancy) of Waynesboro;
grandchildren, Deanna B. Hardin
(Scott) and Scott Berry, both of
Fayetteville, N.C., John Palmer
(Bobbi) of Locust Grove, Ben
Palmer of Gainesville, Laura P.
Hughes (Jason) of Grayson, Emily
Palmer, Krista Palmer of
Gainesville, Suzanne Palmer of
Macon and Jena Palmer of
Waynesboro, four great grandchil
dren; and several nieces and neph
ews.
Bom in Thomasville, N.C. on
July 17, 1920 to the late Charlie
Gloston Millis and Hattie
Tomlinson Millis, she was proud
of being a “Tarheel" even after
moving to Waynesboro in 1945 to
marry her sweetheart. She retired
as a Magistrate Judge after saw
ing for 14 years. The Palmer fam
ily operated Palmer Hardware in
downtown Waynesboro for many
years. Mrs. Palmer was a longtime
member of Town and Country
Woman’s Club. For many years
she was a member of the First Pres
byterian Church in Waynesboro.
She possessed a unique sense of
humor, which never left her and
she always made the best of any
situation.
