Burned
Burned vehicles have been turning up all over rural Burke County. Last Friday night, a passer-by called deputies
when she saw this Chrysler Concord on fire at Story Mill and Quaker roads. The car, which had been wrecked into
a tree, was reported stolen from an East Ninth Street apartment earlier that night. Last Monday, a burned late
model Cadillac was found on cinder blocks of Stoney Bluff Landing, and a few days later a jet ski was found in
flames along Brigham Landing Road.

The smiles are plenty and
have been in her classroom
since she began at SGA in
2005. Dickey knows she is the
first exposure her students
have to school and takes that
responsibility seriously.
“Mrs. Dickey demonstrates
day after day a true passion
for teaching,” SGA principal
Sam Adkins says.
Dickey said the best part of
her job is that it doesn’t even
seem like work.
“I get to come and sing,
dance, draw pictures, run on
the playground, read books,
and I get paid,” she says with
a shrug. "What more can you
ask for?”
Teachers of the Year were
also named for each of the
schools in the system. Julie
Mitchell was honored at
Waynesboro Primary, Jamie
Richardson at Blakeney El
ementary, Felicia Goode at
Burke County Middle,
Cynthia Griffin at Burke
County Alternative and
Patricia Johnson at Burke
County High.
Teachers of the Year for each school are Cynthia Griffin, Burke County Alternative; Felicia Goode, Burke County
Middle; Wende Dickey, SGA; Julie Mitchell, Waynesboro Primary; and Patricia Johnson, Burke County High. Jamie
Richardson of Blakeney is not pictured.
