Bears add three wins to wrestling record

Bears ground Griffin
in basketball tourney

The Bears pulled a big win over AAAA Griffin in the Sweet
South Classic basketball tournament yesterday (Tuesday).
Burke County High School’s boys (5-1) beat Griffin 65-47
in their second game of the tourney, which is hosted at Mor
gan County High School in Madison. Jacquez Rozier led the
Bears with 21 points, followed by Martaveous Smith with 15
and Curstis Barber with 9.
The win redeemed the Bears after a tough loss to Alabama
powerhouse Gadsden City on Monday.
Burke County fell to Gadsden City 59-56 in a game that
came down to the final seconds. Jahanas Harden led with 16
points, followed by Barber with 12 and Rozier with 10. Harden
and Barber each sank two shots from the arch.
The loss marked the Bears first of the season, and Gadsden
entered the game 12-1.
The Bears play their final game of the tournament today
(Wednesday ) against Douglas County, another AAAA school,
at 4 p.m.
