According to a report filed at
the Waynesboro Police Depart

had already had a run-in with
Williams when he knocked on the

A Waynesboro man who admit
ted to sex with a 14-year-old girl
was handed a six month jail sen
tence.
James Marquiel Eugene Lewis,
20, pleaded guilty before Supe
rior Court Judge Michael N. Annis
to one count of statutory rape.
Judge Annis ordered him to
serve six months in jail and nine
years, six months on probation.
Lewis was arrested last Septem
ber, along with his friend 22-year-
old Orlando Marquez Coleman,
after the pair picked up a couple
of Augusta teens and brought
them back to Waynesboro.
Both men admitted to having
sex with the girls, ages 14 and 15,
but Lewis said the girls told them
they were older. He said his
mother asked the girls for identi
fication when she came home
from work to find the two girls in
her home. They reportedly
showed fake IDs. Lewis and
Coleman came to know the vic
tims through an Internet social
networking site.
The incident was reported af
ter a family member of one of the
girls grew suspicious and took
down a license plate number
when the girls were dropped off
at home.
Judge Annis said he chose to
give Lewis the benefit of the
doubt and granted mostly proba
tion in the case due to the circum
stances. Lewis will also be re
quired to complete 200 hours of
community service and must
comply with the requirements of
the Sex Offender Registry.
Judge Annis also granted Lewis
first offender status, which will
wipe his felony slate clean if he
successfully completes his sen
tence.
Coleman has already pleaded
guilty in the case and was sen
tenced to one year in jail and nine
years probation.

Hurtado, 25, still in the passenger seat. He complied with po
lice orders to get out of the car but was soon in handcuffs after
an officer watched him drop a baggie of cocaine and $70 on
