Pre-Kindergarten Cops
Two preschool classes at Waynesboro Primary School learned a thing or two about
the law. Last week, Waynesboro Police Chief Karl E. Allen and officer Chris Greene,
above, spent the morning with the children as part of Community Helper Day. Below,
classmates Thomas Frey, Grant Mobley and Shanya Lawson check out the back of a
patrol car.
Flight school
Preschoolers at SGA Elementary had their own private air show, thanks to the
Georgia State Patrol Aviation Division and Burke County Sheriff’s Office. Last week,
a GSP chopper landed right on the Sardis campus, and youngsters got to talk
shop with the pilot, Sgt. Hubert Craven, and check out the controls and gages.
“Often times people tell kids that if they don’t act right the police will get them
...and that may have a negative effect on kids,” said Sgt. Dedric Smith of the BCSO
who helped set up the special treat. “We want the kids to know that we are there to
help them, and they should not be afraid to ask.” Sgt. Craven, far left, and Sgt.
Smith, far right, are pictured with the preschool class.
