THE 76 th ANNUAL AUGUSTA ROSE
SHOW WILL BE HELD ON OCTOBER
1-2,2011 ATTHE AUGUSTA MALL.This
spectacular rose display features
horticultural and arrangement
competitions, and also offers the
opportunity to join with the Augusta
Chronicle’s “Think Pink” campaign to help
raise funds for the Lydia Project which
provides free services to women facing
any type of cancer anywhere in the world.
All Rose growers are invited to enter pink
and pink blend roses of any type, single or
spray, in this class. An award will be given
for the best pink specimen. If the winner
in this section is a member of a garden
club affiliated with the National Council of
Garden Clubs, in addition to a keeper
award, they will receive a $50 check to be
presented by their club to the Susan G.

COLUMBIA COUNTY CHORAL
SOCIETY - is excited to announce our
upcoming Westobou performances with the
Combined Choirs of Davidson Fine Arts
Magnet School. Performances are Sept.
30 at 3:45 and 7:30 p.m. at the Beverly J.
Barnhart Theatre on the campus of
Davidson Fine Arts Magnet School.
Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for Seniors,
$6 for Students and $4 for Davidson
Students. There will be a $2 processing

THE AUGUSTA COUNCIL OF
GARDEN CLUBS IS SPONSORING
SEVERAL FUN AND EDUCATIONAL
EVENTS. One is a garden tour of six
gardens located in Evans, Augusta, and
North Augusta including Brandon Wilde.
The other two are a series of classes.
Basic Horticulture has six left. These are
fun classes on gardening topics with no
tests and no requirements to attend all
classes. Landscape Design School is still
fun, but has a bit more requirement as to
reading materials and tests. Anyone can
participate in these, but to earn the
Landscape Design Consultants certificate,
the person must be a member of a
federated garden club and must pass all

CASA VOLUNTEER TRAINING The
Court Appointed Special Advocate
(CASA) Program of Child Enrichment, Inc.
is looking for volunteers, 21 and older, to
advocate for abused and neglected
children in the juvenile court system.
Volunteers need no experience and will be
provided with specialized training from local
professionals in the social service field.
Participants will learn courtroom procedure
and advocacy skills necessary to become

JUNIOR LEAGUE OF AUGUSTA
ANNOUNCES 7 th ANNUAL GOLF
TOURNAMENT. Funds raised by the
event will support a host of area
charitable organizations. Augusta, GA-
Tee off at the Junior League of Augusta,
Georgia’s seventh annual Golf Tournament
and support the JLA’s community projects
across the Central Savannah River Area.
This year’s tournament will be held Friday,
September 30, 2011. Jones Creek Golf
Club. Registration begins at 11:30 a.m.
and a shotgun start at 1 p.m. Lunch
provided by Checkers, will be served prior
to the start of the tournament. The 19 th
Hold Party will conclude the event.
A live auction and buffet dinner will be held
at the Jones Creek Club Friday, Sept. 30,
following the tournament from 7-9 p.m.
and will feature musical entertainment,
dinner provided by FATZ CAFE and a
silent auction. All golfers will receive a fun
goody bag filled with treats from local and
national retailers, and the top 3 teams will
receive additional special gifts. There will
also be a chance to win a car from Master
Buick GMC for a hole in one. Cost to
participate is $500 per foursome. For

annual Golf Tournament are used for the
Junior League of Augusta’s Community
