Chamber golf tournament
The Burke County Chamber of Commerce held its fourth annual golf tournament
last Thursday at the Waynesboro Country Club. Some 16 teams participated in the
tournament and enjoyed a pig picking afterwards along with members, sponsors
and others in the business community. Thanks to a number of donors, partici
pants also walked away with raffle prizes and giveaways. A team of golfers repre
senting The Shaw Group tooktop prize in the event, which serves as the chamber’s
largest fundraiser through the year to offset the cost of its programs and initia
tives. “Not only does it supplement our budget but it also provides a great net
working opportunity for those in the local business community as well as expo
sure for our sponsors and chamber members,” executive director Ashley Roberts
said. Above, Jay Eastmead tees off on No. 11, where Mizell Ford offered a new car
to anyone who could sink a hole-in-one. However, no one was able to make the
prized shot. Below, guests and volunteers fill their plates at the pig picking.
