OBITUARIES
Jim Dickey
Jim Dickey of Brunswick, GA, 69, entered into rest on Sun
day, October 6,2013, at his home. He was
born on October 31, 1943 in Screven
County to Gladys Dickey and the late James
Dickey. He worked for United Insurance
Company for many years. He was an avid
fisherman, loved to cook and read, and
loved spending time with his family, espe
cially his granddaughters. His quotes were
“He had more than Mark Twain’s handful
of friends" and “He loved and was loved.
He had many more good days than bad
days.” He was preceded in death by a son, Rodney Dickey, and
two brothers, Matt Dickey and Jerry Dickey.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by two sons, Michael
Dickey (Alana) of Waynesboro, GA and Marcus Dickey of
Nicholls, GA; three brothers, Eddy Dickey (Deane) of
Millington, TN, Eric Dickey (Laney) of Littlefield, TX, and
Neil Dickey (Shaker) of Sylvania, GA; sister, Martha Copeland
(Jimmy) of Dasher, GA; three grandchildren, Ansleigh Dickey,
Madison Dickey, and Tiffany Dickey; sister-in-law. Dot Dickey;
two best friends, Frank Chandler and Truitt Nobles; and many
other family members and friends.
The Memorial Service will be
held at 5pm on Wednesday, Octo
ber 9, at the funeral home. Visita
tion will follow the service at the
funeral home. Eric Dickey will of

Raymond “Buzzy” Waters, Jr.
Raymond “Buzzy” Waters, Jr., 61, of Waynesboro, died
Monday, September 30,2013. Buzzy was born in Ludowici,
GA on June 11, 1952, to the late
Raymond W. Waters, Sr., and the late
Gladys Pearl Waters. Raymond was a
native of Darien, GA, and a 1970
Darien High School graduate. He at
tended Middle Georgia College and later
moved to Tuscaloosa, AL, where he
spent twenty years employed by B.F.
Goodrich.
Buzzy and his wife, Carolyn Cowart
Waters, resided in Waynesboro, GA.
Buzzy lived to fish, hunt and work, especially duck and
turkey hunting. He was employed as a Superintendent at
Chicago Bridge and Iron at Plant Vogtle; was a Union Mem
ber of Local 709 of International Association of Bridge Struc
tural Ornamental and Re-Inforcing Iron Workers; and Presi
dent of the Tuscaloosa Chapter National Wild Turkey Fed
eration. He loved his family, children and grandchildren
and was a wonderful and devoted husband, father and grand
father.
Survivors are his wife, Carolyn Waters, daughter Lindsey
Waters Johnson (Josh), son Thomas Waters (Megan), step
daughters, Christi Davis (Wesley), Jessica Reina (Caleb),
grandchildren, Anna Claire Johnson, Lillian Johnson, Jor
dan Davis and Savannah Davis, sisters Sandra Parker, Sherri
Peavy (Doug), Debbie Lee, Ramona Hanlin, brothers David
Waters and Daniel Waters.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation was held Thursday, October 3, 2013, at Edo
Miller and Sons Funeral Home from 6 pm until 8 pm. Ser
vices were held Friday, October 4, at 11:00 am, at Crescent
Baptist Church, Crescent, GA, with the Rev. Bob Briley
officiating. Interment followed in Crescent Community
Cemetery.
Active Pallbearers were Zach Matherson, Steve Young,
Randy Waters, Billy Wilkinson, Dale Jenkins, Billy Nelson,
Bill Alford and Keith Kicklighter.
Honorary pallbearers were Gene Cowart, Don Crawford,
Robby Wyatt, Bruce Clark, Randal Livingston, Steve “Bone”
Dunn, Glenn Kennedy, Members of the Tuscaloosa Chapter
National Wild Turkey Federation, Former co-workers of
B.F. Goodrich, and co-workers of Chicago Bridge and Iron.
A memorial service was also held in Tuscaloosa at 2 p.m.
Sunday, October 6, at Sunset Funeral Home in Northport,
AL.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made
to New Beginning Church, 1950 Park West Drive,
Northport, AL 35476; Tuscaloosa Chapter National Wild
Turkey Federation, 242, 22 nd Street, SW, Gordo, AL 35466;
or to Moundville United Methodist church, P.O. Box 35,
Moundville, AL 35474.

J. L. Glisson
J. L. Glisson, 77, husband of Jackie Glisson of
Waynesboro, GA. went to be with our Lord and Savior,
October 5, 2013.
The celebration of his life will be at Rosemont Heights
Baptist Church Tuesday, October 8,
2013 at 4 pm with Rev. Wes Lawson
officiating. Burial will follow at
Quiet Acres, 999 Spread Oak Road
Keysville, GA. Visitation will be at
DeLoach-McKerley Funeral Home
on Monday, October 7, 2013 from
6-8pm.
J. L. was preceded in death by his
parents, James Lester Glisson and Jim
and Eva Barefield.
In addition to his wife, he leaves great memories with
his family, children, Rolene G Rowell, Cheryl G Sears
(Mickey), J Elaine McWhorter (Bill) and Jay Glisson
(Lori), six grandchildren, Dustin Rowell (Channing),
Chris Stewart (Amy), Ray McClellan (Ashlie), Tina
Hadley (Matthew), Jaylon Glisson and Anslie Glisson,
five great grandchildren, Addison and Tucker McClellan,
Avery and Haley Kate Hadley, and Bailey Rowell, his
brother, Robert F Glisson (Phoebe) and nephews Robert
F Glisson Jr (Karla) and Bill Glisson (Betsy ) and many
other family members.
Pallbearers will be Jay Glisson, Chris Stewart, Ray
McClellan, Dustin Rowell, Jaylon Glisson, Bobby
Glisson, Jr., Bill Glisson, David Rogers, and Brandon
Sharpe. Honorary pallbearers will be the George
Perkins Sunday School Class, Deacons of Rosemont
Heights Baptist Church, Kenneth English, Dr. Hugh Scott,
and Dr. Johnny Christian.

Clarence Judson “C.J.” Waters
Clarence Judson "C.J.” Waters, 85, of Perkins passed
away on Monday, Oct 7, 2013 at Optim Medical Center-
Jenkins in Millen.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct.
9, 2013 at the Dry Branch Baptist Church with Rev. Brad
Boynton and Rev. David Wheeler officiating. Burial
will follow at Dry Branch Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Waters was born in Screven County to the late
Harry and Jennie Eugenia Cates Waters. He was retired
from Southern Bell and was a member of Dry Branch
Baptist Church. He was also a Veteran of the Korean
War having served in the U.S. Army, as well as a mem
ber of the Telephone Pioneers and a former Jaycee.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Juel Brinson
Waters. Survivors are his daughters and son-in-law, Su
san W. Godbee of Millen and Dawn and Chris Patterson
of Perkins; sons and daughter-in-law, David Waters of
Millen and Clarence J. "Jim” and Janie Waters of Perkins;
sisters and brother-in-law, Betty Jean W. and Walton Hall
of Savannah, GA; grandchildren, Wesley and Shana
Godbee, Ashley Godbee, Kimberly Bennett, Summer and
Gary Melton, C.J. and Ashley Waters, Anna Kate Wa
ters, Katie Patterson, Jacob Patterson, Craig and Susan
Godbee and Hayley Greene; 11 great-grandchildren; and
several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Thomas
Wallace, Kenny Wallace, Chris Patterson, Mark Mays,
Glen Mays, Dennis Small and Greg Hall.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bell Telephone Pioneers.

SPECIAL MISSIONS EVENT
Waynesboro First Baptist
On Sunday, October 13th, Waynesboro First Baptist will host a special
Missions Event at 6:00 PM in the church sanctuary to welcome George
Verwer, founder of Operation Mobilization (OM). OM is a ministry of
evangelism, discipleship training, and church planting. Mr. Verwer led
OM for over 40 years before stepping down in August, 2003. He continues
to be involvolved in Special Projects Ministries (a part of OM), traveling
around the world helping to extend the Kingdom of God. This will be a
community event, so please invite friends and neighbors to hear this
great Missionary-Evangelist!
