FROM THE BLOTTER
Man's late night walk ends badly
A wrong turn after a night of drinking got a Farmers
Bridge Circle man in a big mess.
Deputies were called to the area in the wee hours of
Tuesday. July 19 by homeowners on Poole-Melton Road
reporting that someone was banging on their doors and
asking for medical attention.
When they arrived at the scene they found a very sick
man, "throwing up profusely" and asking for EMT per
sonnel to help. He also appeared to have a severe rash all
over his body.
He told the officers he had been drinking with his brother
on Farmers Bridge Circle when an altercation of some
kind took place.
He began walking toward his cousin's house but appar
ently made a wrong turn into a brier thicket which must
have been poison ivy or poison oak. He said he began
knocking on the doors of several residences asking for help.
He was transported to Burke Medical Center for treat
ment. There deputies told him that the residents whose
doors he had knocked on had been very alarmed and
requested that he never come back.
He told them he was upset that they thought he was tres
passing when all he was doing was asking for help. But. he
said he "would definitely not be returning for any reason."
Two cars were in
volved in a collision
just before 9 a.m.
Tuesday on W Sixth
Street in Waynes
boro. Both driv
ers sustained only
minor injuries and
were evaluated by
the Burke County
EMA. No further de
tails were available at
press time.
