LETTER TO THE EDITOR
Editor:
The City of Waynesboro was recently awarded a FEMA grant in excess of $200,000 to
purchase a generator to power the city water wells and pumps in case of a power outage
or similar emergency (think ice storm, two years ago). A grant, not a loan. At the City
Council meeting on Monday night three council members were present, Councilman
Byne made a motion to accept the grant and purchase the generator, council members
Anderson and Lewis chose not to second the motion. No explanation was given and I
wonder if they would care to share their reasoning with the people who would benefit
from this purchase (at no cost), namely all residents who receive city water?
