Two more malnourished
Dog owner arrested for amateur ear cropping
By Elizabeth Billips

A Waynesboro man was
arrested after a deceased dog
pointed police to a puppy that
was suffering from an amateur
ear docking.
The dogs’ owner Theodore
Jones, 36, was arrested Aug.
8 on three felony counts of
aggravated cruelty to animals.
According to Lt. Teddy
Jackson of the Waynesboro
Police Department, the case
was opened last week after the
city’s animal control officer
received a call about a deceased
dog in the yard of Jones’ Savan
nah Avenue home.
A veterinarian determined
the dog, which was a pitbull
mix, died from malnutrition.
Police later visited the home
and discovered a 12-week-old
pitbull mix puppy whose ears
that had been partially cut off.
“It was obvious the dog’s ears
had been docked by someone
who was not a doctor,” Lt.
Jackson said, noting the dog
was also too young for the
procedure. “They were cut way
too short, and they were not
sutured.”
Jones later turned himself in
and told police that he’d had
another person do the ear crop
ping for him.
While the puppy appeared to
be otherwise healthy, officers
found a third dog at the home,
this one a small breed, that was
suffering from malnutrition.
Jones was charged with a fel
ony each for the one deceased
dog and two living ones.

FROM THE BLOTTER
STATE YOUR EMERGENCY
A 911 dispatcher got a disturbing call from Blythe man
who said someone was trying to kill him and there were
suspicious noises outside his window. Deputies rushed to
the man’s home only to have him admit that he’d smoked
meth right before placing the call and that no one had
actually threatened him. Turns out, he had made several
911 calls over the past two weeks, all under the same cir
cumstances. He was arrested for unlawful conduct when
making a 911 call.
THIS IS A TEST
A Keysville man who was trying sell his motorcycle has
a lot less to work with after a test-ride went badly. Accord
ing to a report filed at the sheriff’s office, a potential buyer
known only as “Juggy” allegedly took the 2003 Kawasaki
out for a test-spin but ended up wrecking it instead. The
owner called the cops, but Juggy walked off before they
arrived.

Father accused of
assaulting bus driver
By Elizabeth Billips
lizbillips@yahoo.com
A Keysville father could be
in hot water following a fright
ening scene at a Burke County
school bus stop.
It happened last Thursday
morning when the he allegedly
threatened a bus driver while
she was attempting to pick up
his daughter and niece.
According to the report hied
at the Burke County Sheriff’s
office, the driver said she closed
the bus door “to protect herself
as well as the passengers but
the offender tried to get inside
by prying the door with his
“bare hands.”
When that failed, he allegedly
jumped in his car and began
chasing the bus.
The bus driver reported that
the offender was fishtailing and
driving at high rates of speed,
which put students and travelers
on both sides of the roadway in
danger.
At the time of the report, no
formal charges had been made
against the offender.
