from Fiamm Energy, GE Grid
Solutions, Purification Cellu-
tions and Sam Dong Georgia at
an ‘eat and meet’ event designed
to connect these industries with
local and regional partners.
Representatives from Augus
ta Technical College, Burke
County Chamber of Commerce,
Georgia Department of Eco
nomic Development, Georgia
Department of Labor and Geor
gia Power Company shared
information and programming
offered by each organization
designed to aid, assist, and grow
Burke County’s local industry
base.
Industry participants also
gave updates on the status of
their operations here in Burke
County.
Chuck Sabo, Quality and
Safety Manager at Purification
Cellutions, commented on their
local expansion, which was an
nounced in February of 2016.
"Our employment has more
than doubled in the past 18
months with over 50 new hires,”
he said. "We have had very
little turnover during this time
and are Ending good, qualified
candidates both locally from
Burke County and elsewhere in
the CSRA."
GE Grid Solutions reported
similar positive news.
“We have converted 50 tem
porary positions to full time
since our acquisition by GE
Digital Energy in November
of 2015,” said Quality Control
Manager Barrett Wimberly.
The DABC will continue to
seek opportunities to connect
existing industries with oppor
tunities to help them succeed
and grow in Burke County.

Fall tennis begins Sept. 5
The fall season of tennis will
soon begin at Citizens Park

Labor Day Round Robin

partner for each set.

Youth league begins at 6 p.m.
for ages 8 & under and 10 &
under.
Men's league begins at 7 p.m.
The tennis center supplies the
balls and will help End partners.
Ladies who are not opposed to
coed play are also invited.
WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 7
After-school classes begin.
Monday and Wednesday classes
for 8 & under meet at 3:45 p.m.,
and classes for ages 9 & up will
meet at 4:30 p.m.
THURSDAY, SEPT. 8
Ladies’ Clinic begins at 6:30
p.m. Men who are not opposed
