School Bus Routes
The Waynesboro-Burke Concert Series recently added four new members to its board of di
rectors for the 2020-2021 season. From left are Angela Chance, Bo Blanchard, Lindsey Keller
and Ashley Moore Jr. Board president Kaye Jones says their presence will help continue the
vision of the concert series. The board of directors is busy planning for the next season, and
Jones says the group looks forward to sharing live music with the community again. Returning
board members are Jean Barefield, Denzel Carter, Lisa Cucci, Whitney Dixon, Ricky Flakes,
Genie Fulcher, Marsha Hughes, Dorothy Glisson, Gwendolyn Jackson, Anglea Petrie, Diana
Royal, Joe Sasser, Toni Searles and Dominee Thomas, and the advisory board includes T.J.
Brantley, Nancy Lynn, Nancy Minyard, Jean Stanford, Merv Waldrop and Gail Webster.
Drawing contest brings
nuclear energy into focus

Local fourth- and fifth-grad
ers are invited to show their
drawing skills and win some
nuclear-related prizes for them
selves and their schools.

Facilitator at Vogtle 3&4, the
North American Young Gen
eration in Nuclear (NAYGN)
is holding its annual drawing
contest with the theme 2020
Fission: Bringing Nuclear En
ergy Into Focus.
Students are asked to draw
how nuclear energy will help
with energy and environmental
needs of the future. Submis
sions should be composed on
an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of paper
and submitted electronically
in PDF format to Smith at
kdsmith@southernco.com.
Smith will also provide the
forms that are required with
each submission.
The deadline for submissions
is Sunday, Sept. 20, at noon.
Smith said winners will re
ceive several prizes including:
First Place - Science Books,
KiwiCo 3-month Subscription,
NAYGN T-Shirt, Honorary
Membership, Award Certifi
cate, Class Treasure Box
Second and Third Place -
KiwiCo 1-month Subscription,
NAYGN T-Shirt, Honorary
Membership, Award Certificate
For Each Winner’s School
Library - A collection of books
and reference materials about
nuclear science and technology
with the name of the winning
student inside the cover, honor
ing their accomplishment.
