raffle to bring in scholarship funds

With the unfortunate cancel
lation of its annual fair, the
Waynesboro Exchange Club is
hoping the organization’s up
coming Music Fest and raffle
will draw a big crowd to help
support community efforts.
Last month, the civic group
announced the cancellation
of the Exchange Club Fair, a
first in 61 years. In addition
to the disappointment the an
nouncement brought to club
members and the community
alike, it also brought on an
other concern: how would the
organization make up for the
monies lost, funds that are used
to give scholarships to local
high school seniors and vari
ous other events throughout
the year.
Club president Art Lively
says they are banking on the
Oct. 3 Music Fest to be a huge
success.
The concert, which was post
poned from its original April
date due to the COVID-19
pandemic, is a little less than
two weeks away. “We need the
support of our community now
more than ever,” Lively said,
adding that tickets to the show
can be purchased in advance at
etix.com and will be $25 at the
gate. “Our club, along with The
Swingin’ Medallions, are also
dedicating this year’s concert
in memory of Mutt Kennedy
of McKinney’s Pond who re
cently passed away.”
In addition to The Swingin’
Medallions, the Hushpuppies
will also perform.
A huge $20,020 cash raffle
winner will also be announced
during the show, and tickets
are currently available for pur
chase from any Exchange Club
member. The price per ticket is
$100; only 500 will be sold.
Gates open at 6 p.m. at the
Waynesboro Exchange Club
fairgrounds, and the concert is
slated to begin at 7 p.m.
“Y’all come out with your
friends and family for a good
time with great music and
plenty of dancing,” Lively
said. “Remember, it’s for a
special cause and in memory
of a man who was a dear friend
to many.”

Gloria Frazier, gathered to honor Mrs. Cartwright for her dedication to the people of Keysville
during her 2013-2016 term as mayor. In addition to Rep. Frazier, other speakers included former
State Senator Charles Walker, Garnett L. Johnson, Jr., Michael Johnson, Bernice Bogan of the
Lamar School of Nursing, and Georgia DOT board member Don Grantham of Augusta.
