Jonathan “Clay” Walden
Jonathan “Clay” Walden, 63, entered into rest Friday,
November 13, 2020. Fie was a member of Botsford Baptist
Church. Fie retired from E-Z Go.
Fie worked at Burke County Middle
School and was a former member of
the Burke County Board of Education.
Clay loved hunting, coaching baseball
and softball, and the Atlanta Braves
and Georgia Bulldogs and was a
faithful fan of both. Fie loved the Lord
and was a dedicated husband, father,
and grandfather. Fie was preceded in
death by his mother, Betty Walden; a
brother, Clint Walden; and a sister, Pam Jowett.
Fie is survived by his wife of 35 years, Charlotte Walden;
three daughters, Olivia Wade (Will), Kristal Ramirez both of
Waynesboro, and Brittany Brown (Travis) of Twin City; a son,
Cameron Walden (Keisha) of Waynesboro; a bonus son,Bren-
nen Quick (Courtney) of Waynesboro; nine grandchildren,
Marla Ramirez, Beckam Ramirez, Brett Bagwell, Clay Bag-
well, Janna Bagwell, Wyatt Wade all of Waynesboro, Wesley
Brown, Bailey Brown, and Flunter Brown all of Twin City; his
father, JC Walden of Waynesboro; a brother, Charles Walden
(Kaye) of McBean; three sisters, Beverly Black (Mark), Penny
Walden, and Essie Broxton (Randy) all of Waynesboro; and
numerous nieces and nephews.
The family received friends from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m.
Sunday, November 15 at the funeral home. Funeral services
were held 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 16 at Botsford
Baptist Church with Bill Lively, Rev. Mike Dann, and Rev.
Ron Drawdy officiating. Burial followed at Burke Memorial
Gardens. Pallbearers were Beckam Ramirez, Wyatt Wade,
Charlie DeLaigle, Mike Midlo, Joe Mead, Garry Fulcher, Jr.,
Ernest Quick, Troy Smith, and Jim Singletary. Honorary Pall
bearers were Robert Hickman, Jimmy Posey, David Moncus,
and Tim Philmon.

Lucille Mells Ervin
Lucille Mells Ervin, affectionately known as “Big Mama”
was bom on March 3,1945, in Waynesboro, Georgia to the late
Mary Mells Sapp & George Sapp. On
November 13, 2020, Lucille entered
into a peaceful rest.
Lucille attended school at Blakeney
Schools in Waynesboro, Georgia and
later earned a certificate in Divinity
and became an ordained Evangelist.
All that knew Lucille, knows she had
a deep love for the word of God and
displayed that love openly with oth
ers, teaching the Bible, encouraging
and saving souls for Christ. Lucille was also a career woman
with many talents and worked in various industries until she
became ill.
Graveside Services will be held Saturday, November 21,
2020,11:00 a.m. at New Hope Apostolic Church, 307 Bridge
Taylor Road, Keysville, GA 30816. She will he in state from
10:00-10:45 a.m.
Family visitation will be held Friday, November 20, 2020
from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and public viewing will be held from
5:00-7:00 p.m. at Phinazee and Son Funeral Home, 404 West
8th Street, Waynesboro, GA 30830. Interment
will be in Pines Cemetery, 711 West 6th
Street, Waynesboro, GA 30830.
A mask will be required to attend the visita
tion and the graveside service.
Dennis Adams
Mr. Dennis Adams, 54, of Millen, Georgia, entered into
eternal rest on November 6, 2020. A memorial service will
be held Sunday, November 22,2020,2:00 p.m. at Burkeland
Gardens, Comer of Pauline Jenkins Street and Liberty Street,
Waynesboro, Georgia. His loving and devoted family will
cherish his memories.
A mask will be required to attend the memorial service.

Timothy Donald Smith
Timothy Donald Smith, 59, entered into rest Monday No
vember 9, 2020. Born and raised in Waynesboro, GA, Tim
was passionate about sales his entire life through working at
numerous Augusta car dealerships to his own self-employed
endeavors. Tim was also a lifelong musician and enjoyed bang
ing out “Stairway to Heaven” on the piano. Tim was preceded
in death by his parents, James D. Smith and Doris C. Smith;
and his wife, Lisa Marie Wright Smith.
Tim is survived by his sister, Kimberly Smith Wilson of
Waynesboro, Ga.; his nephew, Brandon Smith of Atlanta, Ga.;
his niece, Jenna Brown of Waynesboro, GA; and his loving
canine companion, Miss Daisy.
Funeral services were held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, Novem
ber 14 in the DeLoach-McKerley Prescott Chapel with Lige
Moore officiating. Burial followed at Bellevue Memorial Gar
dens . The family received friends one hour prior to the service.

Iris “Gail” Redd Oglesby
Iris “Gail” Redd Oglesby, 64, entered into rest Wednesday,
November 4,2020. She was a native and lifelong resident of
Burke County. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary
and Harold Redd; and her son, Bill McGlohorn, Jr.
She is survived by two daughter, Donna Brookins (Seth)
and Tasha Sanders (Trey DeLaigle) both of Waynesboro; three
grandchildren, Logan DeLaigle, Will Sanders, and Abigayle
Brookins; and a brother, Don Redd (Kathy) of Waynesboro.
Graveside Services were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, No
vember 7 at Green Fork Baptist Church Cemetery.

Plant Vogtle siren tests
begin November 19 th .
On Thursday, November 19 th at 10 a.m., Plant
Vogtle will be conducting tests of the emergency
notification system. During this time, outdoor
sirens will be activated for approximately three
minutes within the states of South Carolina and
Georgia, in the surrounding counties of Burke,
Allendale, Aiken and Barnwell.
Plant Vogtle has installed 48 new sirens throughout
the 10-mile radius around the plant as part of its
efforts to protect residents in the unlikely event
of an emergency at the plant. The new sirens are
being tested in this full-siren test as the next step
in confirming the sirens perform as expected.
These tests are coordinated with the state and
local emergency management agencies.
The next test is scheduled for December 17 th .
