After further thought, the
City of Waynesboro Down
town Development Authority
has reconsidered the cancel
lation of the annual Christmas
parade and put it back on the
calendar.
The event will still take place
as originally planned, on Sat
urday, Dec. 12, at 1 p.m., but
DDA Director Don Lively says
there will be some changes,
including no float judging, no
trophies awarded and no prizes
handed out.
“This is just going to be a
casual, fun parade,” he says.
“We encourage anybody who
wants to participate to enter
your car or truck, your golf
cart, tractor, horse, even your
lawn mower, decorated for
Christmas. Throwing candy
will be left up to participants,
but we will strongly advise
everyone to practice safe and
healthy social distancing mea
sures as much as possible.”
No applications will be re
quired this year; anyone wish
ing to take place should contact
Lively directly via email at
donlively.dda@gmail.com to
reserve a spot. Participants
will line up at the fairgrounds
as usual prior to the start of the
parade.
There is no rain date for the
event.
