Edmund Burke ends
season with 30-7 loss

The first round of the state
playoffs was the last stop for
the Spartans. They ended the
2020 season in Damascus, fall
ing 30-7 to Southwest Georgia
Academy.
Edmund Burke, the 4-AA
Region Champions, finished
the season with a 6-6, 2-1
record.

“All merchants will have a
coach Aaron Phillips. “Our
guys, especially our seniors,
had to overcome a lot and deal
with a lot of added pressure due
to restrictions, guidelines, pro
tocols and this crazy pandemic.
They’re a great group of guys
and will truly be missed.”
Seniors Brantley Jones and
Eason Waters were able to
break the single-season tackle
record at EBA, both finishing
the season with more than 130
tackles. Waters, along with
Carson Woods, both rushed
maximum capacity that will be
monitored by a First National
Bank volunteer throughout
the night,” Keller says, adding
that DOOR encourages social
distancing and face masks.
Most downtown businesses
along Fiberty Street will be open
for the duration of the event,
but attendees should remember
the businesses on side streets
who are participating as well:

Entries in the annual
gingerbread house contest will
be on display from 6-8 p.m.
at Blanchard and Calhoun’s
office in Old Waynesborough.
The contest, sponsored by Mr.
Golf Carts/Mr. Auto Parts and
for more than 1,000 yards this
year, and Waters broke the all-
time rushing record at Edmund
Burke.
“Although this season did
not go as we planned, these
guys persevered and stayed the
course and were able to achieve
some of their goals,” Phil
lips said. “Although we were
young, the seniors carried us,
and they will truly be missed
in our program.”
