responded to 101 patients’ calls during the week ending

Thirty three of the transports were determined to be emer
gencies and 38 were non-emergent.
The agency also answered 12 fire calls during the week.
They included one brush/grass fire, one outside trash/waste
or dumpster fire, five rescues, three public service calls and
two unspecified calls.

Though it’s the holiday sea
son, criminals do not discrimi
nate. In fact, as Waynesboro
Police Corp. Gary Jenkins
points out, they use this time,
and the trash on the streets,
to snuff out who got what for
Christmas.
“If you live in the city, we
generally dispose of our empty
boxes in our curb side poly
carts,” Jenkins says. “While
there’s nothing wrong with
that, it gives these modern day
‘Grinches’ an idea of what’s
new inside your home.”
In an effort to prevent resi
dential burglaries and thefts,
Jenkins says the City of
Waynesboro has placed large
dumpsters at two locations:
one at 710 Stone Avenue and
another in the lot across from
the Southern Bank Pavilion (on
the comer of Pauline Jenkins
and Liberty streets).
Jenkins says these loca
tions, which are accessible 24
hours a day, should be used for
empty boxes as well as pack
ing and wrapping materials.
“There will be no dumping on
the ground, and please keep
the area clean,” Jenkins says,
adding that both sites will be
closely monitored.
