OBITUARIES
Barbara Ann Daniel Collier
Nancy Stewart Blanchard
James O’Neal Gunn Sr.
On June 19, 1940, Barbara Ann Daniel was bom to Betty
Louise Wade Daniel and Robert “Bob” Theodore Daniel in
Augusta, GA at University Hospital.
They brought their redheaded baby
girl home to Waynesboro, Ga. In
1942, they began their homestead on
what would become the homeplace.
In 1944, they welcomed Robert Theo
dore Daniel III, her beloved brother.
Life was good and they worked hard
to build their little slice of the Ameri
can Dream. Joining them in 1955 was
Robert Louis Stevenson, their cousin
who lost his mother, Betty’s sister Helen. He became their
brother.
Barbara graduated from Waynesboro High School in 1958
and she moved to Atlanta for school. Also moving to Atlanta
from his home in Millstone, KY was Bennett David Collier.
When they met in September 1959, it was love at hrst sight and
they married on December 24, 1959. On December 9, 1961,
God blessed them with a daughter, Mary Melissa Collier. But
God wasn’t through; He blessed them with another daughter,
Kristy Michele Collier, who was born on December 24,1969,
which was also their 10th anniversary. Their union would last
almost 55 years until David went to Heaven on April 12,2014.
Barbara and David lived in Atlanta until 1973 when they
moved home to Waynesboro, GA. Many, many trips were made
to Kentucky to visit her new family of eight Collier siblings
and their families, who were her precious nieces and nephews.
Barbara worked at Burke County Hospital in administration
for 15 years when she then began her work as secretary at
her beloved Rosemont Baptist Church with Rev. Earl Saxon.
She served there until 1997 when she and David opened their
printing business First Edition Custom Printing.
Barbara became a grandmother on July 23,1996 when Dal
ton Michael Smith burst into her life. Such joy was had loving
on their precious gift from God. Then that joy doubled when
Collier Bryson Smith made his appearance on August 9,2000.
The two grandsons spent many hours at Ma and Pa’s house
out in the country. God wasn’t through and Ashley GraceAnn
Herrington made the family complete on May 14, 2002. Her
three grandchildren were her life. After her sweetheart left
this earth in 2014, she spent the remaining 6 Vi years with her
beloved four legged baby girl, Mollie—being loved and adored
by her family. Darrell Johnson become her son and they spent
many hours together as he cared for her every need. He was
such a special and dear person to her. Barbara accepted Jesus
Christ as her Savior early in life and strived daily to be His
faithful servant. We rejoice that she is now in His presence.
She stepped peacefully into eternity after battling with her
whole might this horrible Covid vims.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Betty Louise
Wade Daniel Cooley and Robert “Bob” Theodore Daniel; her
husband, Bennett David Collier; and her special son, Vince
Phillips.
To live in her amazing legacy she leaves her two daugh
ters and their families, Mary Melissa Collier Brantley and
her husband John F. Brantley and their daughter, Ashley
GraceAnn Herrington and Kristy Michele Collier Smith and
Darrell L. Johnson and her sons, Dalton Michael Smith and
Collier Bryson Smith and their father, Michael Smith; her two
brothers and their families, Robert Theodore “Ted” Daniel III
and his wife, Linda Rogers Daniel and their two sons, Robert
Theodore Daniel IV and his wife Jenifer Thompson Daniel
and their son and two daughters, and Brian Keith Daniel and
his wife Stephanie Her Daniel and their two sons, and Robert
“Rob” Louis Stevenson and his wife, Elaine Childs Stevenson
and their two sons, Russell Lloyd Stevenson and his two sons
and Robert Keith Stevenson and his wife Allison Tutterow
Stevenson and their three sons; her uncle and his families,
Clarence Wade Stevenson and his wife, Ann Evans Stevenson
and their two sons and two daughters; her aunt and her family,
Betty Snellgrove Wade, and her two daughters, Joyce Wade
Loflin and her daughter, and Debra Wade Fuller and her son
and daughter; her Kentucky family; and her dear friends, Linda
Beasley, Tammy, Tina, Trade and their families, Dean Stowe,
and Shawn Crosby.
The family received friends Saturday, December 26,2020,
from 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will
be private.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Bon
nie Jenkins, Dr. Walter Voyles, the nurses, doctors, and staff
at Burke Medical Center and the nurses, doctors, and staff on
the Covid ICU unit at Augusta University Medical Center.

Nancy Stewart Blanchard, 74, entered into rest Saturday,
December 26, 2020. She was born in Athens, GA to the late
Naomi and Herbert Stewart and was
a resident of Winder, Ga. before
moving to Waynesboro in 1970. She
was a member of the First United
Methodist Church, where she taught
Sunday school, sang in the choir, and
was a member of the Sunshine Circle.
Nancy was an avid tennis player.
She retired from the Burke County
Clerk of Court office in 1998 and
taught Bible study at Edmund Burke
Academy. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death
by her husband, Henry “Hank” Hammond Blanchard, Jr.
She is survived by three children, Melinda Prescott (Jody),
Denise Meeks (Brent), and Henry Blanchard III all of Waynes
boro; and seven grandchildren, Robert Hammond Lamar
Prescott, Sidney Carroll Prescott, Jacqueline Naomi Prescott,
Nancy Grace Prescott, William Daniel Meeks, Andrew Davis
Meeks, and Mallorie Anne Meeks.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
Wednesday, December 30 at the funeral home. Graveside
services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, December
30 at Burke Memorial Gardens with Rev. Isaac D. Salgado
officiating.

Samuel Milton “Papa Sammy” Jenkins
Mr. Samuel Milton “Papa Sammy” Jenkins 94, the son of the
late Willie and Eloise Jenkins entered into eternal rest at his
residence Friday, December 25,2020.
He was a native and lifelong resi
dent of Burke County. He was a
member of Waynesboro First United
Methodist Church, having held many
positions in the church over the years
and was a member of the Brinson
Coleman Sunday School class.
He was a United States Navy vet
eran serving during WWII. Upon ar
riving back home he was greeted by
a new son and went to work for the
Coca-Cola Bottling Company in Waynesboro. He later went
into the farming and farm machinery business which spanned
from 1957 to 1986.
During his career he served on many boards of directors
including Planters EMC, Oglethorpe Power, Georgia Farm
Equipment Dealers Association as well as the Burke County
Board of Education. He was also a member of the VFW.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his
wife of 71 years, Nell B. Jenkins, his son Greg Jenkins and
his wife Elora Lefler Jenkins and his brother Ted B. Jenkins.
Surviving are his children, Stan Jenkins and wife Ginger,
Art Jenkins and wife Gay and Susan Reynolds and husband
Tommy all of Waynesboro; his sister, Gloria Jenkins of
Grovetown and his sister-in-law, Betty Jenkins of Augusta.
He is survived by 10 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and
several nieces and nephews. His extended family included
Mary Turner, Irene Wright, Rose Hannah, Mary Baxley and
Rose Landis.
Graveside Services were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, December
29,2020 in Burke Memorial Gardens with the Reverend Isaac
D. Salgado officiating.

Jacqueline “Jackie” McCullough Glisson
Ms. Jacqueline “Jackie” McCullough Glisson, 78, entered
into rest on Saturday, December 26, 2020. She was bom on
December 8, 1942 to the late Jesse and Dorothy Flakes Mc
Cullough. Ms. Glisson was a lifelong residence of Waynes
boro. She retired from the Burke County Board of Education
as a paraprofessional at Waynesboro Primary School. Jackie
enjoyed cooking, baking, and spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her
husband, Edward Glisson.
Surviving are her son, Stephen Weddon (Barbara) of Gough;
daughter, Jessica Edenheld (Todd) of Waynesboro; stepson,
Eddie Glisson (Debra) of Waynesboro; brother, Robert Mc
Cullough of Waynesboro; sister, Sue Mobley of Waynesboro;
grandchildren, Kiah Day and Liam Edenheld; and several
nieces and nephews.
Amemorial service honoring her life will be held at 2:00 PM
on Wednesday, December 30,2020, in the chapel of DeLoach-
McKerley-Prescott Funeral Home with the Reverend Matt
Wigley officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made

Keysville, Ga. - James O’Neal Gunn, Sr., 82, entered
into his eternal rest Thursday morning, December 24,2020 at
Keysville Nursing Home and Reha
bilitation Center. Graveside services
with military honors were held at 2:00
p.m. Monday, Dec. 28, 2020 at the
Keysville United Methodist Church
Cemetery with the Reverend Matt
Wigley officiating.
Because of the family’s concern
for public health and safety during
this COVID-19 pandemic, the family
requested that social distancing and
other safety precautions be followed.
The wearing of face masks was strongly encouraged.
James was the son of Louie Franklin Gunn, Sr. and Tressie
Mae Cain Gunn and was bom May 30, 1938 in Keysville.
After Jimmy graduated from Wrens High School, he joined
the Army National Guard where he was called to active duty
during the Berlin Crisis. He was a sharpshooter, a submachine
gun expert and obtained the rank of Sergeant E-5 before his
Honorable Discharge. He loved God, family and working.
He built a successful constmction business that empowered
him to give to those who were in need. He was a past board
member of Mount Moriah Campground, Burns Methodist
Church, Maranatha Church and New Hope Church of God. He
was also a past member of the Georgia Cattlemen’s Associa
tion and an active member of the Waynesboro Church of God.
Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Joseph
A. Gunn; and a son, James O. Gunn Jr. He is survived by his
wife of 59 years, Sara “Frances” Eason Gunn; son, Alexander
Franklin Gunn (Sandy), and their children Emily and Will
Gunn; Jim’s children, Amanda and Bryson Gunn; sisters,
Mary G. Hobbs Ward,Lois G. Hall, Doris G. Smith,Elaine G.
Richardson (Andy), Judy G. Kent, Audrey G. Harker (Tom);
brothers, Louie F. Gunn (Linda) and Delma W. Gunn (Dianne);
and a multitude of nieces, nephews and cousins. Pallbearers
were Barrow Walden, David Rawlins, Randall Eason, Craig
Hobbs, Len Dailey and Scot McGahee.
The family expresses their heartfelt thanks to the nurses and
staff at Keysville Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center for
their unconditional love and compassionate care.
