OBITUARIES
Janett M. Baker
Janett M. Baker was bom January 22,1942 in Harris County,
Ga. After a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease, she went
home to be with her Lord and Savior,
Jesus Christ on Friday, December
18,2020.
She is survived by her husband,
Thom Baker, her children, Dwayne
(Lori) and Eric (Jennifer) Smith,
Wendy (Chad) Zepeda and Susan
(Shan) DafFron and 6 grandchildren.
She is also survived by her brothers
Jerry (Wanda) and Harrell (Ann)
Moye and her very special cousins,
Gloria Gamer and Nancy Garner.
A graduate of Sandersville High School, GA, Class of 1960,
Jan went on to further her studies at Georgia Baptist School of
Nursing where she became a registered nurse. She then went
on to work for Dr. Charles Johnson at his private practice for
17 years.
Wanting to explore other avenues, she owned a dress shop
in Conyers, Ga as well as a short but fruitful career in insur
ance. Realizing her true calling, she returned to nursing and
took a position with a psychiatric hospital in Ft Oglethorpe,
Ga, becoming head nurse until finishing her nursing career.
Throughout her life, Jan was extremely artistically inclined
in many fields, enjoyed gardening, and was a member of The
Red Hat Society. She was also a founding member of the
Telfair Garden Club and owned and operated Telfair Gardens
in Burke County, Ga, where she lived for the remainder of
her years.
Jan will be cremated and a celebration of life will be deter
mined at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift
to further the research in fighting to find a cure for Alzheimer's
Disease.
Deanna Joy Coleman
Deanna Joy Coleman was unexpectedly called home to
Heaven on Christmas Day, 2020. A legendary mother, sister,
and friend to many, she was unques
tionably a gift that this world did not
deserve.
Bom in Milwaukee on December 11,
1964, she has since called many states
and cities home, in which anyone who
needed rest or protection was always
welcome. Wherever she was, there was
always a plate to eat, a place to sleep,
and laughter.
Deanna was supremely resourceful. If you needed it, and she
had the means to help, it was yours. She was also a masterful
protector, with hope and faith being her sword and shield.
Deanna had only just begun her dream career as a healthcare
provider, despite a global pandemic. She spent every day of
her life taking care of others, as few things made her happier.
She leaves innumerable loved ones to cherish her memories:
her siblings Vickie, Monica, Mark, Todd and Dionne; her chil
dren Naigee, Damany, Destinee and Destin; her grandchildren
Donovan and Randi; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins
and other relatives and friends.
She joins her daughter Candice; her mother Claudette; and
her brother Elbert Jr. in Heaven.
To know her was to love her. Companionship, care, and
connectedness are her legacy.

Life Lines
By Linda Lariscey
1HE GIFT OF YOU
The people which sat in darkness saw great
light; and to them which sat in the region and
shadow of death light is sprung up. From that time
Jesus began to preach, and to say. Repent: for the
kingdom of heaven is at hand
I Matt. 4:16-17).
Each one of us is a gift. Indeed, for many, we are a gift to our parents
though at times in our lives they may have disputed it. We are a gift
to this world. Jesus proclaimed that we are the light of the world. He
was speaking the truth that every person who knows that God exists
and readily seeks Him carries the light of hope.
This world is hard and full of trouble. It is not meant to be a place of
hope and refuge rather a place of woe and adversity. Your smile carries
the potential to be a ray of sunshine to the stranger you meet on the
street. The gentle touch of your hand can satisfy the sighs of a lonely
soul. The gleam in your eye as you pause to hold a door open may
be a halo for someone who is in pain.
You may be a gift unseen by most. But you must never hide it from
your self. Embracing the truth that you are a light is essential if you are
to shine in this dark world. Your spirit is the candle of the Lord. God
will trim it and light it daily as you surrender to the One that gave you
the gift of who you are.
