Robert “Bob” Bolton
OBITUARIES
Roy Keith Hood III Annette Herndon Jenkins
Robert “Bob” Bolton, 82, entered into rest on Saturday,
January 9,2021. He was born on September 23,1938, to the
late John Lee and Amanda Bolton.
Bob retired from the United States Postal Service after 30
years of service as a rural mail carrier. He also worked for the
Corp of Engineers, Georgia Pacific, Georgia Forestry Commis
sion, and The True Citizen. In his younger days, Bob enjoyed
hunting and fishing.
He was a former member of the Waynesboro Jaycees.
Bob was a member of the First United Methodist Church of
Waynesboro, where he served on many church committees
over the years, and he was a member of the Brinson Coleman
Bible Class. He enjoyed spending time with his family.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Jo Ann Bolton of Waynes
boro; son, Bobby Bolton (Sheryl) of Columbia, SC; daughter,
Mary Ann Bradley (Bob) of Conyers, Ga.; grandson, Mercer
Bradley of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; two granddaughters, Rebecca
Deardorff (Josh) of Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Emily Bradley of
Conyers, Ga.; great grandsons, Edison Deardorff and Truman
Deardorff both of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; two brothers, John
Bolton (Virginia) of Sanford, N.C. and Bill Bolton (Cheri) of
Dunwoody, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service honoring Bob’s life will be held at 11:00
a.m. on Wednesday, January 13, 2021, at Burke Memorial
Gardens with Reverend Jimmy Cason and Reverend Isaac
Salgado officiating.
Remembrances may be made
to the First United Methodist
Church of Waynesboro.

James Edwin Blount
James Edwin Blount, 89, entered into rest Saturday, January
9,2021. He was a native of Vidalia and a lifelong resident of
Waynesboro. He played football and
was a graduate of Waynesboro High
School. James was a member of the
Clark Drugstore Coffee Club and First
United Methodist Church. He owned
and operated Blount Fish Market for
over 60 years. He was preceded in
death by his wife, Patricia B. Blount;
and six siblings, Joe Blount, Edca
Blount, Viana West, Virginia Glisson,
Perry Blount, Jr., and Finda Fovett.
He is survived by a son, Joe Blount (Gwen) of Conyers,
GA; two daughters, Paulette Black (Randy) of Waynesboro
and Pam Ivey (Frank) of Conyers, GA; six grandchildren,
Amy Adams (Ryan), Emily Williams (Ryan), Allison Bodin
(John), Bethany Blount, Will Blount, and Ben Blount; hve
great grandchildren, Camryn, Brandon, Evan, Fogan, and
Hannah; and a sister, Jane Blount Murphy of Brenham, Texas.
Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January
13 at Burke Memorial Gardens with Rev. Isaac Salgado of
ficiating.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to his
caregiver, Christine Walker.
Remembrances may be made to First United Methodist
Church.

Brian Tervontia Carswell was bom July 23,1987 in Augusta,
Georgia to Mr. Gregory & Evangelist Norma F. Hankerson
Carswell, Sr. of Waynesboro, Georgia.
God called his precious angel home on
Wednesday, January 6,2021. He was a
native of Burke County, Waynesboro,
Georgia.

Roy Keith Hood III entered into rest Tuesday, January 5,
2021 at University Hospital. He was born in California to the
late Vera Elizabeth and Roy Hood, Jr., was a resident of Burke
County for many years, and most recently was a resident of
McCormick, S.C.
He was a veteran of the US Air Force. He retired from the
United States Postal Service after serving for many years as
the Burke County Postmaster. In his retirement, Roy enjoyed
woodworking and hshing.
He is survived by his wife, Faye Deal Hood; his two sons
and their families, Kenny Hood and his wife, Susan and their
children, Zachary, Alastair, and Oliver and Keith Hood and his
wife, Cinnamon and their children, Camille and Rosemary; a
step-son and his family, Perry Brown and his children, Joseph
Brown and Jennifer Parrish and her children, Matthew Parrish
and Adalyn Parrish; a step-daughter and her family, Angela
Humphreys and her children, Holden Humphreys and Heath
Humphreys and his son, Sawyer Humphreys; a brother, Mike
Hood; a sister, Barbara Hood Fong and her husband, Robert;
and the mother of his children, Donna Hood.
Services will be held at a later date.
In lieu of howers, memorials may be made to an animal
rescue of one’s choice.

Russell E. Pate, Jr.
Russell E. Pate, Jr., 72, entered into rest Tuesday, January
5, 2021. He was born in Fouisville, GA to the late Alleen
and Russell E. Pate Sr. He was a vet
eran of the US Navy. Russell enjoyed
hunting, hshing, traveling, watching
Old Westerns, and history. He loved
spending time with his family includ
ing his dog, Conway. In addition to his
parents, he was preceded in death by
his wife, Catherine Pate; and a sister,
Fena Patton.
He is survived by his son, Russell E.
Pate III (Shelia) of Evans; a daughter,
Danette Highsmith of Waynesboro; four grandchildren, Emily
Pate of Waynesboro, Russell Pate IV of Waynesboro, Ay den
Engelke of Evans, and John Daniel Highsmith ofWaynesboro;
and several nieces and nephews.
The family received friends from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Fri
day, January 8 at the funeral home. Funeral services were held
at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 9 in the funeral home chapel
with Mitchell McGraw officiating.
Remembrances may be made to the Wounded Warrior
Project.

Hammond Irvin Collins Jr.
Hammond Irvin Collins Jr., 75, entered into rest Wednes
day, January 6, 2021 at University Hospital. He was born
in McBean to the late Mildred and
Hammond Irvin Collins, Sr. He was
a member of Piney Grove Baptist
Church. Irvin loved hshing, was an
avid golfer, and was a member of the
Applewood Golf Club. He retired
from AGY Aiken. He was very de
voted to his family. In addition to his
parents, he was preceded in death by
three sisters, Vera Rabun, Opal Swear
ingen, and Grace Saxon.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Carol Col
lins; three sons,Randy Collins ofWaynesboro, Scott Collins
(Stephanie) of Waynesboro, and Chad Collins (Cindy) of
Waynesboro; two daughters, Karen Mock of Bartow, and
Nancy Fields (Waylon) of Trenton, SC; 13 grandchildren; 18
great grandchildren; two sisters, Margie Murphy ofWaynes
boro and June Babb of Waynesboro; and numerous nieces
and nephews.
The family received friends from 1:00 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.
Sunday, January 10 at the funeral home. Graveside services
were held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, January 10 at Piney Grove
Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Jerry Sharpe officiating.
In lieu of howers, memorials may be made to Piney Grove
Baptist Church or the American Heart Association.

Shelia Howell Long, 55, entered into rest Thursday, De
cember 31,2020. She was a native of Sandersville, a resident
of Burke County, Lincolnton and most recently Hephzibah.
She was a member of Hephzibah United Methodist Church.
She is survived by William Long, Sr. of Lincolnton; four
children, Michael Sanders ofWaynesboro, Rebecca Sanders
of McBean, Dylan Long of Lincolnton, and Chris Long, Jr.
of Augusta; four grandchildren, Cody Sanders, Alyssa Mock,
Will Sanders, and Caleb Daniel; her father, James Howell
(Ellen) of Augusta; a brother, Russ Tanner of Waynesboro;
and a sister, Ginny Risner of Hephzibah.
Graveside services were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January
8 at the Fulcher Family Cemetery with Rev. Ernest Johnson
officiating.

Annette Herndon Jenkins, 94, beloved wife of the late F.
Leslie Jenkins, Jr. of Sardis, Georgia went to be with her
Lord Jesus Christ on Friday, January
8,2021, at her residence.
Annette was born on May 26,1926
in Ehrhardt, South Carolina to the
late Clyde and Nettie Herndon. She
graduated in 1947 from The Georgia
State Womans College of Valdosta,
Georgia with a Bachelor of Arts de
gree. In 1948 she received secretarial
training in Atlanta. She taught sixth
grade at SGA before she married and
moved to Atlanta.
Annette accepted the Lord at an early age and served Him
faithfully her entire life. She was an active member of Sardis
Baptist Church, serving in many roles throughout the years.
She taught Sunday school from the cradle to senior adults.
She lived out her passion for missions through her church,
association, state, and worldwide. She shared the gospel
throughout the state of Georgia and on mission trips to Russia,
Germany, and Panama. She and Leslie developed a supportive
relationship with an evangelist, Gabriel (who became like a
son), and his family in India that blessed them and provided
opportunities for many to come to the Lord. Her life goal was
to be more like Jesus everyday and to make an eternal impact
on the lives of those around her.
Annette was a dedicated mother to her children Barry Jen
kins, Sardis; Phyllis Jenkins,Martinez; Albert (Ruth) Jenkins,
Charleston, SC; and Les (Sheila) Jenkins, Sardis. She took
delight in her grandchildren Amy Jenkins, Andrea (Nathan)
Ellison, Cassie Jenkins, Matthew Jenkins, Amanda (Dave)
Marancik, Jenni (Joe) Lairscy, Austin (Katelyn) Jenkins, Jessi
(TJ) O’Connor, Jaimee (Dillon) Stuart, Joseph Jenkins, and
numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She was
blessed with sisters-in law Cheryl Cato, Cora Herndon, Hope
Herndon, and the late Helen Herndon. She was preceded in
death by her grandson, Daniel Jenkins and her two brothers,
Thomas Clyde Herndon and George Washington Herndon.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, January 16 at
12:00 at the Sardis Baptist Cemetery. Due to Covidl9, masks
and social distancing protocols are recommended. Pallbearers
will be her grandsons.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.
Memorials may be given in her honor to Sardis Baptist
Church.
