Georgia Shooting Dog Derby Classic
Winners in the Georgia Shooting Dog Derby Classic were, first place: Answered Prayers, owned
by Allen Linder, Madison McDonald and Casey Hollander; second: Miller’s Strolling For Gold,
owned by Allen Linder; and third Eliminator, owned by Saverio Morelli. All three dogs were
handled by Mike Tracy. Judges were Jim Davis and Bill Adams. Thirty-five dogs were drawn for
the stake. Others shown (2nd row) are Saylor Odom, Nell Mobley, Mary Kimbrell, Mary Tracy and

Georgia Open Shooting Dog Championship
The champion of the Georgia Open Shooting Dog Championship, which concluded Monday
afternoon at Di-Lane Plantation, was Bully Rock, handled by Mike Tracy. Runner-up was Domina-
tor’s Ghost Rider, handled by Burke County’s own Doug Ray. The stake, which drew 67 dogs,
concluded the trials in Waynesboro. Others pictured are George Tracy, Susan and J. Moser,
Jack Kimbrell, Wallace Riechert (judge), Bill Adams, Nell Mobley (GFTA Secretary) Jim Davis
(judge), John Ray Kimbrell, Mary Tracy. Muriel Primm, Bill Primm, Gary Futch (GFTA president),
Doug Ray, Carl Bishop and Mack Carter. The champion is owned by Ernie and Karen Saniga
and Bill and Muriel Primm. The runner up is owned by Harold Ray and Tony and Becky Gibson.

Leadership for the county’s governing
boards will remain the same for another year.
During their regular monthly meetings last
week, the Burke County Board of Education
and the Burke County Board of Commission
ers reappointed its current leaders to remain
in their positions.
Johnny Jenkins and Greg Chandler were
unanimously voted by the BOE to serve as
chair and vice chair, with Jenkins continuing
to be one of the longest serving chairmen in
the state of Georgia.
Terri Lodge Kelly held on to her post as
chair of the commission, and Evans Martin
was chosen to serve as vice chair.
The BOE and county commission both
meet the second Tuesday of each month.
While the commissioners voted to continue
holding their monthly meeting at 6 p.m., the
BOE voted to change its meeting time to an
hour earlier and begin at 5 p.m.
The BOE conducts meetings at the Burke
County Public Schools central office, lo
cated at 789 Burke Veterans Parkway in
Waynesboro, while the commissioners meet
on the second floor of the historic court
house, also in Waynesboro, in the former
courtroom.
