Queen of the Wing
Contestants sought for ‘beauty’ pageant
Need A ...
FROM STAFF REPORTS
Sometimes they’re so pretty,
you’d never guess they aren’t
professional pageant queens
or models. The people behind
the wigs, the glittery costumes
and false eyelashes, found
strutting their stuff in five-inch
heels from time to time, are,
however, just a group of guys
raising money for charity.
But they really do want the
coveted chicken wing crown.
(And sometimes they’re so
ugly you can’t help but laugh.)
Plans for the Queen of the
Wing Reverse Beauty Pag
eant at the annual Boss Hog
Championship Cook-off are
underway now, and a few brave
men are needed to carry on the
tradition.
Each contestant transforms
into his female persona before
taking the stage to dance, chat
with Waynesboro’s own Boss
Hog (aka Don Lively) and
perform a brief talent of his
choice. Additionally, contes
tants are asked to pick a charity
or cause close to their hearts to
compete for.
This year’s prize package
is the highest it’s ever been at
$1,000 — half of which goes
to the contestant and half to
his charitable organization.

Mizell Ford donates masks to BCPS
William Mizell Ford recently donated 9,000 masks to the Burke County Public School System.
As Ford is increasing production of PPE for internal and external use, Mizell jumped on the
opportunity to help the community. BCPS Superintendent Dr. Angela Williams is pictured with
Earl Huddleston, the dealership’s parts and services director.
Feeding the hungry
Can Waynesboro Primary School first-graders donate 100 cans? Yes! In fact, they donated 260
cans! As a part of the 100th Day of School celebration at WPS, first-graders were challenged to
collect 100 cans as a service project for the community. These canned goods will be used in
Botsford Baptist Church’s food pantry, and the church will also donate a portion to the Georgia
Baptist Children’s Home located in Baxley. Mike Lively, board member of the Children’s Home
and member of Botsford, is pictured with, from left, lyan Harper, Brayden Hill and Takaria How
ard, who contributed to the successful initiative of the first grade class.
have been donated to various
causes over the years.
Queen of the Wing will serve
as a portion of Friday night’s
entertainment during The Boss,
which takes place May 7-8.
