Edmund Burke Academy’s
varsity golf team has competed
in six competitions so far this
season, defeating three oppo
nents and taking three losses.
“The Spartans are very even
in scores this year, with low
score coming from different
golfers each match,” said golf
coach Larry Keller, adding that
senior Andrew Meeks fired an
87 at Waynesboro Country
Club (WCC), which serves as
the Spartans’ home course.
“We couldn't have a golf
season without the support of
every member at WCC," Keller
said. “They have always been
junior golf friendly as long as
I can remember.”
Other highlights from the
season thus far include junior
Evan Hirschauer’s 45 at Twin
City Country Club, sophomore
Garrett Jenkins’ 42 at Westlake
and sophomore Jordan Giles’
45 at WCC.
“It’s nice to have competi
tion among the guys,” Keller
said. “Hopefully we can cut
a stroke or two off each score
and compete in the region
tournament.”
In addition to Meeks,
Hirschauer, Jenkins and
Giles, golf team members for
the 2021 season include se
niors JC Ellison and Lennox
Wilson, sophomore Lane
Waters, freshman Palmer
