DAN THE DREAMER
Cohen Felix
Fourth grade
Edmund Burke Academy
There once was a boy named
Dan. He was nice, cool, funny,
smart and a great student. Dan’s
friends often called him DTD (it
stood for Dan the Daydreamer).
But at night, they called him
DTN (it stood for Dan the Nightdreamer). Most of the time in
the day, he had good dreams, but at night sometimes he had
bad dreams. This story is when he thought he was having a bad
dream, but he wasn’t.
It all began on a rainy day; Dan was tired and was having a
bad day at school. It was two days before Easter, and he wouldn’t
stop thinking about it. Right time he got home he told his mom
to cook supper while he took a bath. For supper he had a burger.
Right after that we went to bed.
That is when it began — the bad dream. Dan had just woken
up in his dream. He was outside. Everything looked big. He had
been running from something and then he saw it. It was a bunny
he had been running from. The bunny looked old. The bunny
got closer, and then it got him. The bunny brought him to his
hideout. The bunny had caged Dan. Then, Dan found the key
to the cage. Dan had escaped and ran and ran until he came to
a stop. Dan found a place to hide. It was dark, so Dan made a
bed out of leaves and then, he figured it out. He had shrunk. Dan
was scared and just wanted to go home. So Dan went to sleep.
The next day, he woke up and didn’t know where he was. He
was back at the bunnies hideout. He said please don’t hurt me,
but then he saw a sign that said Easter Bunny’s Hideout.
The Easter Bunny said, “I need help.” Dan said, “With what?”
The Easter Bunny said, With delivering eggs because ever since
I have been down here, I couldn’t escape. So, I am going to use
a grow ray on you.”
Dan said, “Why don’t you use it on yourself?” He said, “I
can’t.”
So then he grew, and overnight, he delivered all the eggs.
He woke up and then he became the Easter Bunny 20 years later.
Dan lived happily ever after and had four kid bunnies. Their
names were Dan Jr., Dana, Duke and Daisy and his wife was
Darla.
THE BOX OF MYSTERIES

“Brayden, time to wake up?”
“Five more minutes, Mom.”
“No, we need to start cleaning
out the garage.”
I thought, wow, I forgot it’s
spring cleaning. When we clean
out the garage, I always find
something cool.
I quickly get dressed and grab a Pop-tart and head out to the
garage. When I got there, we started with full steam. I cleaned
the right side while my mom cleaned the left side. After about
one hour, the only thing I have found is old socks (yuck!), a lot
of shovels and power tools.
Finally, I get to the last corner. I find a lot of cool stuff there.
So, I dive in headfirst with full steam. About five minutes later,
I find a big wood crate with a lock. I stop cleaning and look for
a key. After 10 minutes and 23 seconds, I just stop. I looked the
whole garage head to toe and nothing.
Well, after we stop cleaning, I take the crate inside. I think of a
way to open it. I think about using TNT. No, that’s too hardcore.
I could whack it a few times with a sledgehammer, and that may
work. Let’s try that. So, I grab the sledgehammer and whack it
10 times. Nothing happens. I whack it one more time. CRACK!
It splits open. Yes, it worked!
I open it and it has some sort of straw inside. I dig through it
and what do I find? A pair of stinky old socks. I think someone
tricked me. My mom walked in and said what did you find?
“Socks” I said.
She said, “There’s a lesson, you know. The lesson is to do
what you are told instead of doing what you want. You know, I
put it in there.”

AWHOLE NEW WORLD

One day I fell while playing out
side. When I woke up and opened
my eyes, I saw what I thought was a
rain forest. The blades of grass were
as big as trees. Just then, I realized
I had shrunk! I was so confused because I was not at my house.
All of a sudden, I heard a clomp, clomp, clomp, and I saw a
giant ant coming straight towards me. I was soooooooo scared,
but it turns out that it was a nice ant. I decided to keep him as a
pet so that I could ride him around. The ant could talk and told
me that his name was Allen. He introduced me to his friends Lily
the ladybug, Randy the roach, Gary the grasshopper, Beatrice
the beetle and Molly the moth. They all live together in a log in
the middle of a patch of grass. They were all so nice. We had
fun playing lots of games. First, we played hopscotch and Gary
the grasshopper won every time! Mary math was very good at
blending in, and she won most of the games of hide-and-seek.
We were laughing and having a great time until out of nowhere,
a rat came charging towards us. He was a huge, red-eyed mon
ster with a pink tail, really sharp teeth and made a horribly loud
screeching sound. He began chasing us and tired to eat us! We
were jumping over huge rocks and ducking under twigs. We all
ran up a pizza box that was lying in the grass. When we got to
the edge of the box, it was like we had reached a tall cliff.
The rat was coming for us! All of my new friends could fly
except Allen and me. I looked over to the side and saw a leaf. I
grabbed it up and held onto each end. I told Allen to get on m
back and hold on tight. We flew through the air with that leaf like
a parachute. It was so cool gliding around until we crash landed.
The good news is that we were almost back at the log where they
all lived. The rat was hot on our tails though! We started running
again. I could feel his hot breath on my back. I started to trip,
and on my way down I managed to fall straight through a hole
in the log just big enough to fit through. The rat jumped through
the hole after me and got stuck! He finally wiggled back out the
hole, but we were safe!
I was so tired and fell asleep. When I woke up, everything was
normal again — except I had dirt in my hair and on my clothes.
ERICA’S MAGICAL ADVENTURE
Arabella Cruz

There was a girl named
Erica, she was so small that
the grass was like trees! Erica
was brave, curious and adven
turous !
One day she went out for
a walk and out of nowhere a
shiny thing flew across the
sky! It flew over the hedge
very far up in the forest. Erica
had never went over the hedge
before. Should she go over? Remember she was very curious and
brave so she said her favorite bible verse Psalm 56:3, “When I
am afraid, I will trust in You.” So she started to fly to the top
of the hedge but, all of a sudden her wings started to turn gray
and in seconds she couldn’t fly anymore and fell to the ground!
When she got up, she gasped as she looked and saw her wings
were gone, she was devastated!
So she started walking with tears in her eyes until she saw
a hole in the hedge. When she walked through it she saw the
beauty of the new world and was anxious to explore it. As she
was exploring, she discovered an amulet with a ruby in the center
of it. She put it on and turned into a fairy mermaid! She gasped,
when she saw her beautiful sparkly tail. So, she jumped in the
water and swam across the ocean. She fought an evil Atlantian,
but the amulet she was wearing gave her strong powers. After
she defeated him she got a crown and it gave her the ability to
shape shift into anything!
Erica decided to swim across to the other side of the ocean and
came to and island. She shaped shifted back into a little girl and
started to explore the island. All of a sudden she saw something
shiny and she wondered if it was the shiny thing she saw fly
over the hedge. Erica picked it up and she started to grow and
grow until she was the size of an eight year old. She felt very
confused?! ?! She heard her name being called and then a man and
woman ran up to her and started hugging her. “What’s going on,”
she said? “You’re our daughter,” they said smiling! She grabbed
them both and hugged them tightly! They were a Happy Family!!!
