Miss Palmer marries Mr. Walker ■'«
Miss Suzanne Turner Palmer and Mr. Lee Barton Walker Jr.
were united in marriage at half past five o’clock, Saturday, Jan.
30,2021.
Due to the pandemic, a small family ceremony was held out
doors at 1842 Inn in Macon. The Rev. Mark Hudgins officiated
at the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Jeffrey
Palmer and the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Cecil
W. Turner and the late Mr. and Mrs. John T. Palmer Jr., all of
Waynesboro.
She is a graduate of Mercer University and is employed by
the Crisis Line and Safe House of Central Georgia as the shelter
director.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Barton Walker Sr.
and the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jefferson B. Cochran,
the late Dr. Edward K. Walker and the late Dr. Rena M. Cumbie,
all of Tallahassee, Fla.
He received a bachelor’s degree from Florida State Univer
sity and a master’s degree from Mercer University where he is
employed as the director of operations and event management.
During the ceremony, the bride was radiant in an Oleg Cassini
off-the-shoulder lace wedding gown and veil. Her sister, Miss
Jena C. Palmer, served as maid of honor.
The groom’s father served as best man.
Nuptial selections were presented by Mrs. Betsy Fitzgerald,
harpist.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents entertained family
with dinner at the 1842 Inn.
After a wedding trip to Charleston, S .C., Mr. and Mrs. Walker
reside in Macon.

Plant sale
The Burke County Master Gardners will hold their annual plant
sale Friday, April 30, from 3-6 p.m. at the Southern Bank Pavilion,
855 Fiberty St., Waynesboro.
Senior food market
The Golden Harvest Food Bank, Waynesboro Deliverance
Evangelistic Church and the Waynesboro Homeless Taskforce
are partnering together to offer free food for seniors ages 60 and
up. The distribution location will be Waynesboro Deliverance
Evangelistic Church, 938 Old Millen Highway, Waynesboro, and
the grand opening is Saturday, April 24, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

“Emerging Stronger Against
the Pandemic of Elder Abuse”.
Presentations during the
month of June will include a
variety of speakers committed
to addressing the needs of the
elderly. In addition, they will
be providing insight regarding
the ongoing battle of abuse. All
presentations will be available
through a virtual format and
can be viewed by participants
at their convenience through
accessing a link. The event is
free to the public.
On Tuesday, June 15, 2021,
a special presentation will
be made in honor of “World
Elder Abuse Awareness Day”.
