Major Gary Jones reported
an incident to City Council
members July 19.
According to the Richmond
County Sheriff’s Office Case
Report, Corporal Erik Napier’s
home in Richmond County was
burglarized July 9.
Napier stated he left his
residence early in the morning
and returned later that evening
to find that the glass had been
smashed out of his back door.
There were no suspects inside,
when he returned to his home,
according to the report.
An unknown suspect went
through each room and stole
$80 in rolled up change. In
addition to the money, the thief
ran off with Napier’s duty belt
containing a firearm, ASP ba
ton, handcuffs, handcuff pouch
and a set of keys belonging
to the officer’s patrol car, the
substation and an office.
“They did not steal the patrol
car, but they went into the trunk
of his car and stole a patrol
rifle,” Jones said during the city
council meeting. The rifle was
an AR-15.
The patrol car and the resi
dence were processed, but no
fingerprints were found. The
case remains active. Anyone
