Aaron “Sugafoot” Thomas, Sr.,
Mr. Aaron “Sugafoot” Thomas, Sr., age 70, of Waynes
boro, Georgia, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, July 27,
2021. Funeral Services were
held Tuesday, August 3, 2021,
11:00 A.M. at Flaven Munner-
lyn United Methodist Church,
549 Barron Street, Waynesboro,
Georgia 30830. Interment was in
the Phillip Grove Baptist Church
Cemetery, 2015 Herndon Road,
Waynesboro, GA 30830.
Visitation for the immediate
family was held Monday, August
2, 2021 from 3:00-4:00 p.m.
and the public viewing was held
from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Phinazee
and Son Funeral Home, 404 West 8th Street, Waynesboro,
Georgia 30830. His loving and devoted family will cherish
his memories.

Mr. Melvin Bernard Jones, age 72, of Waynesboro, Georgia,
entered into eternal rest on Friday, July 30,2021. Funeral Ser
vices will be held Saturday, Au
gust 7,2021,2:00 p .m. at Corner
stone Christian Center Church,
710 S tone Avenue, Waynesboro,
Georgia 30830. Interment will be
in Pines Cemetery, 711 West 6th
Street, Waynesboro, GA 30830.
Visitation for the immediate
family will be held Friday, Au-
gust6,2021 from4:00-5:00p.m.
and the public viewing will be
held from 5:30-7:00 p.m. at Phin
azee and Son Funeral Home, 404
West 8th Street, Waynesboro,

Samuel Fiske Maguire
Augusta, GA — Samuel Fiske Maguire, a community leader,
died peacefully at home with his family on Wednesday, July
28, 2021 at the age of 81 fol
lowing a courageous battle with
cancer. He was bom on October
6, 1939, in Macon, Georgia to
the late Samuel Oscar Maguire
and Harriet Fiske Maguire of
Augusta, Georgia and preceded
in death by his brother, William
Flournoy Maguire.
Sam was a 1957 graduate of the
Academy of Richmond County
High school, received a degree
in finance from the University of
Georgia and an LLB-JD degree
from the University of Georgia Law School. He served in
the United States Army for 2 years as a First Lieutenant. He
returned to Augusta to practice law for over 50 years. Sam
was active in the local and State Bar Association as well as the
American and State Trial Lawyers. He was licensed to practice
in all Federal and State Courts, as well as the Supreme Court of
the United States. Sam was an attorney for the City of Augusta
for 10 years in addition to his private practice.
He served his community and church and was involved in
volunteer and leadership roles in numerous organizations, to
name a few: Boy Scout Council, YMC A Council, Community
Chest, Exchange Club, and Rotary Club of Augusta. He was a
member and trustee of Aldersgate Methodist Church, served
as Sunday School Superintendent, and member of the Board
of Stewards. Later, he joined Church of the Good Shepherd.
Sam was a lifelong outdoorsman who hunted and fished. He
particularly enjoyed quail hunting in Burke County at Green's
Cut, The Bird Dog Capital of the World, a good dog, a quality-
fishing pole, and a well-designed boat. A reverence for nature
was deep in his core. He enjoyed traveling with friends and
family, grandchildren, a never-ending reading list - every book
and all books, and lunch with the "Geezers."
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sadie Coleman Ma
guire, and three children: Samuel Fiske Maguire, Jr. and wife
JoAnn of Atlanta, Sadie "Sissy" Maguire Fitzgerald of Atlanta,
and Harriet Maguire Eddings of Asheville, N.C.; brother-
in-law Dr. Charles Hamilton Coleman, Jr. of Augusta. Sam
had six grandchildren: Reita Coleman Maguire, Sadie Grey
Fitzgerald, Martha "Maggie" Maguire Fitzgerald, Kathryn
Coleman "Cole" Eddings,Elizabeth "Molly" Maguire Eddings,
and Harriet "Halle" Louisa Eddings.
A memorial service was held at 3 p.m. Monday, August 2,
2021 at Church of the Good Shepherd, 2230 Walton Way, Au
gusta, Georgia, with Rev. Ted Clarkson officiating. Visitation
was one hour prior to the service in the Parish Hall.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Church
of the Good Shepherd or a charity of your choice.
The Maguire family would like to thank the compassionate
care given by Paul Smith, Tonia Sands, and Maureen Meredith.

Mr. Eugene T. Henry, 88, the son of the late Rufus L. and
Leila H. Henry, entered into eternal rest Tuesday, July 27,
2021, at University Hospital in Augusta. Gene was born
in Emanuel County and was a longtime resident of Burke
County. He served in the United States Navy for 4 years and
was retired from International Paper Company after 30 plus
years of service in the Maintenance Department. Gene was
a born again believer in the shed blood of Jesus Christ and
loved his Lord with all of his heart. He served the Lord in
many ways as a Sunday School Teacher, Deacon, Elder and
Friend to those who were in need.
In addition to his parents Gene was preceded in death by his
brothers and sisters, Barney, Carl, Ray, Ted, Eloise, and Violet.
Surviving are his loving wife, Sherry Henry; his son, Mi
chael C. Henry (Stacy) of Martinez, Ga.; his grandchildren,
Justin Henry (Anna) of Martinez, Dr. Daniel Henry of Roa
noke, Va., and Katie Henry of Martinez; his brother, Darwin
Henry (Nora) of Metter; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 31 in
the DeLoach-McKerley-Prescott Funeral Home Chapel with
Dr. Tom Tidwell and Rev. Ernest Johnson officiating. The
family received friends one hour prior to the service.
Special thanks to the loving and caring nurses, Fannie,
JoAn, and Tia.
