Barbara died on September 15,2021 from COVID.
She was born on February 23, 1953 in Tazewell, Virginia
to Bob and Shirley McGlothlin. Her military family traveled
extensively, and she graduated from high school in Puerto
Rico after also attending high schools in Spain and Louisiana.
Following high school, she attended Pensacola Junior College
on a track scholarship and obtained her Radiologic Technolo
gist degree in Roanoke, Virginia.
In 1976 she married Edmund G. Byne, Jr. in Virginia and
moved to Mesa, Arizona, where she stayed home to raise her
2 children, Katherine and Edmund. After moving to Georgia
in 1984, she worked for Operation Mobilization, a global
Christian book distributor and subsequently taught computer
science at a local Christian school.
She also served on mission committees and taught Bible
classes at several local churches. Most recently, she led a
women's ministry for 18 years at Overcomer's Outreach in
Martinez helping hurting, abused, black belt co-dependent and
broken women. This type of ministry was her passion. She
instilled God's unconditional love and helped others realize
that you don't have a soul, you are a soul; you have a body.
Barbara believed that ultimately, we are all just walking each
other home.
She is survived by her husband, a daughter, Katherine
(Brad) DeLaigle, and a son, Edmund G. Byne III (Kim), as
well as her grandchildren, Samuel and Sara DeLaigle and EB
and Fletcher Byne, nieces and nephew. She is also survived
by her father, Bob (Elizabeth Jean) McGlothlin of Roanoke,
Virginia and a sister, Sharon McGlothlin of Phoenix, Arizona.
Her family and grandchildren were the loves of her life,
as well as her ministry. She was praying constantly for her
friends and family. The most important person in her life was
her savior Jesus Christ. She enjoyed books, travel, and mis
sion trips and felt most at-home at the beach. Her Cherokee
heritage was a source of pride.
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Her
honesty, transparency, truthfulness, candor, and simple child
like trust endeared her to everyone. In her was no guile.
