OBITUARIES
Sergeant Arthur T. Holton (Ret.)
William “Little Chris” Long
Jackie B. Lovett
Arthur T. Holton was bom in Burke County September 21,
1941 and died December 8,2017. He attended Midville High
School and worked in the busi
ness world before being drafted
into the Army. He retired from
the Army after serving our great
nation for 20 years.
After retirement he served
as a substitute teacher at Burke
County Middle School until at
tending Georgia Southern and
majoring in Education. After re
ceiving his degree, he joined the
teaching staff where he served as
the Technology Teacher
After retiring from Burke County Middle School, he served
as a volunteer host at the Burke County Hospital.
He was preceded in death by his Parents John and Ada
Mae Holton; brother, John Darrell Holton; and sisters Janell
Holton Jones and Faye Holton Benham. He is survived by
one brother, Ray and (Lou) Holton of Concord, NC, brother-
in-law Rev Flip Benham also of Concord, NC, numerous
nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
Art, as he was known to his coworkers, loved serving his
students, fellow teachers, and staff at Burke County Middle
School as observed by many of those who were taught by
him and credited much of their success to him. Also, it was
obvious that he enjoyed serving his coworkers and those
visitors to the hospital.
A graveside service for Sergeant Arthur T. Holton (Ret.)
will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, November 15, at Burke
Memorial Gardens, conducted by his brother Ray Holton. In
addition to Sgt. Holton, the remains
of his wife of more than 50 years,
Judy Holton, who passed away
about 2 years after Sgt Holton, will
be buried beside him.

Reverent Earl Thomas Saxon
Reverend Earl Thomas Saxon, 73, loving husband, father,
and grandfather went to be with his Lord and Savior Monday,
November 8, 2021. Rev. Saxon
was born in Savannah, Ga., grew
up in Bulloch County, and was a
resident of Burke County since
1981. Before moving to Burke
County, he pastored churches
in St. Mary’s, Claxton, and Au
gusta. Here in Burke County, he
pastored at Rosemont Heights
Baptist Church and retired from
Hebron Baptist Church.
Rev. Saxon graduated from
Georgia Southern College with
a Bachelor’s degree in Educa
tion. After graduation, along with pastoring he taught Middle
School. Rev. Saxon went on five mission trips to Brazil, six
to India, and one to Sri Lanka after the tsunami.
He was a former owner and operator of Joiner- Anderson-
Saxon-Prescott Funeral Home in Waynesboro. He was a
member of the Emmaus Group. He was an avid outdoorsman,
including hunting, fishing, and playing basketball.
He loved The Lord, reading His Word, and preaching. He
loved people and never met a stranger.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Calvin and Lamar
Saxon.
Surviving are his wife, Judy J. Saxon of Keysville; his son,
Earl Thomas Saxon, Jr. and wife April of Grapevine, Tex.;
his daughter, Shanna Saxon Gardner and husband Lee of
Keysville; his brother, Robert Michael Saxon and wife Rosie
of Stillson, Ga.; his grandchildren, Faith Saxon Garrett and
husband J .T. of Dallas, Tex., A’Ryan Lee Gardner of Temple,
Ga., Graceton Saxon and wife Marissa of Dallas, Tex., Seth
Earl Gardner of Keysville, and Grace Diane Gardner of
Keysville; his great grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth Garrett,
Sage Garrett, Gianna Garrett, and Silas Saxon; one niece; 3
nephews; several cousins; and a very special extended family
member, Erin Davis and her husband Mark.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Wednesday, November 10 at the DeLoach-McKerley-Prescott
Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Novem
ber 11 in the DeLoach-McKerley-Prescott Funeral Home
Chapel with the Reverend Bill King, Reverend Sean Connor
and the Reverend Randy Waters officiating .Burial will follow
at 2:00 p.m. in the Old Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be his grandsons, nephews, and
Bill Tyson.
Honorary pallbearers will be ministers and deacons from
former churches he pastored and the Emmaus Group.
The family wishes to express their thanks to Margaret,
Anglea, Faith, Austin and Chaplain Mike all with Homestead
Hospice and Cindy Blackstone.
Remembrances may be made to the Parkinson’s Founda
tion.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the family requests that
social distancing and other safety precautions be followed.

Leroy Ellison
Mr. Leroy Ellison, age 66, of Hephzi-
bah, Georgia, entered into eternal rest
on November 9, 2021. Arrangements
will be announced at a later date.

Mr. William “Little Chris” Long, Jr. 36 of Augusta Highway,
Lincolnton entered into rest on Saturday, October 30, 2021
at University Hospital, Augusta.
A visitation and viewing was
held on Wednesday, November
3,2021 from4:30p.m.until7:00
p.m. at Beggs Funeral Home, 200
May Ave., Lincolnton, Ga.
Mr. Long was bom on August
18, 1985 in Augusta, Ga. He
grew up in Waynesboro, Ga. and
graduated from Burke County
High School in 2003. After high
school, he went to work in the
family logging business. He and
his family moved to Lincolnton a few months ago as most of
their logging is done in this area. When he got the chance to
get away from work, he enjoyed fishing and spending time
with his family.
His paternal grandfather, Jimmy long and maternal grand
father, Danny Flakes preceded him in death.
He will be greatly missed by his family which includes his
wife Brittany Watkins Long; father, Chris Long of Lincolnton
and mother, Deborah Morris of Waynesboro; stepchildren,
Madisyn Dimmick, Courtnei Dimmick and D.J.; brothers,
Dylan Long, and Ryan Spires; sister, Shelbie Morris of
Tennesssee; paternal grandmother, Elaine Long; maternal
grandmother, Shirley Flakes.

Jackie B. Lovett, 87, entered into rest Thursday, Novem
ber 4,2021. He was a native and lifelong resident of Burke
County. He was a veteran of the
US Army and a member of the
First United Methodist Church
in Waynesboro. He was the CEO
of Jackie B. Lovett Trucking
Co., Inc.
He is survived by his wife,
Kathryn Chance Lovett; a son,
Johnny B. Lovett (Karen) of
Waynesboro; two granddaugh
ters, Kacey Johnson (Marcus) of
Waynesboro and Kris Lovett of
Waynesboro; three great grand
children, Bentley, Sophie, and
Cason Johnson; and numerous
nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, No
vember 6 in the DeLoach-McKerley-Prescott Chapel with
Rev. Isaac Salgado and Chaplain Race Lariscy officiating.
Burial was private. The family received friends from 10:00
a.m. until service time.
Honorary pallbearers were employees of Jackie B. Lovett
Trucking Co., Inc.

Jackie Williams
Mr. Jackie Williams, age 67, of Waynesboro, Georgia,
entered into eternal rest on November 5, 2021. Graveside
Services will be held Saturday, November 13, 2021, 11:00
a.m. at Allen Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery, 113 Allen
Chapel Road, Waynesboro, Georgia 30830.
Visitation for the immediate family will be held Friday,
November, 12, 2021 from 2:00-3:00 p.m. and public view
ing will be from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Phinazee and Son Funeral
Home, 404 West 8th Street, Waynesboro, Georgia 30830.
His loving and devoted family will cherish his memories.

Moses Flournoy, Jr
Mr. Moses Flournoy, Jr., age 78, of Midville, Georgia,
entered into eternal rest on November 6,2021.
Moses was the son of the late
Moses Flournoy, Sr. and Bertha
Mosely Flournoy. He was born
January 23, 1943. Moses was
a retired farmer after working
nearly 40 years. After retirement,
he began helping Benny Joiner,
owner of Joiner & Associates, in
the steel industry. He became a
member of Endtime Faith Deliv
erance Church on April 11,1999
where he was later ordained as a
deacon and served in his posi
tion until his health declined. He
enjoyed spending time with his
wife and watching western movies and tv shows. Moses was
preceded in death by his parents, Moses and Bertha Flournoy
and his son, Odell Flournoy. He leaves to cherish his memo
ries ; his loving wife, Alberta Flournoy, six loving kids, Frankie
Palmer, Willie (Willie Mae) Rackins, Debra (Aristeed) Sparks,
Lue (David) Jackson, Valerie Flournoy, and Moses (Lekisha)
Flournoy, III, 15 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, a host
of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, November 13,2021,
1:00 p.m. at EndTime Faith Deliverance Church,407 Murphy
Street, Midville, Georgia 30441.
Visitation for the immediate family will be held Friday,
November 12,2021 from 11:00-12:00 p.m. and public view
ing will be from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Phinazee and Son Funeral
Home, 404 West 8th Street, Waynesboro, Georgia 30830.
The family has requested private time
together so there will be NO REPAST
due to COVID-19.
